  • @shootersincorperated Real fan or not, you're an idiot and cannot read. 1932 Men's National Championship in Basketball.

  • @DJCamYank

check your facts... that "title" was awarded to them by historians years after that season. They didn't even win a playoff to be named champions that year. So really, you can only say that a small group of old dudes thought they were the best team that year. Good try, though.

  • they did it for hep... gosh i miss him

  • And we got it back this year. First win in West Lafayette since 1996. We did what Boise failed to do yesterday.

  • i love iu and i hope they do better in the future

  • What a great great moment in collegiate athletics.

    Congrats Jane

    Congrats Hoosiers!

  • IUPUI

  • 24-3. And we never had a coach named Piggy.

  • actually that was 27-24...a lot closer...

joe beat you guys 10 times out of 12, and how many times did hep win? o wait...

  • I know what the score was, I was there. 24-3 is the number of national championships IU has (24) compared to the number of championships Purdue has (3), and only one in a sport that receives significant coverage. And Hep at least led us in the right direction. And while we're on the topic, how many Final Fours did Gene Keady get to, even with Big Dog? Oh Wait...

  • don't worry loosier, at least you have basketball season

    oh wait....

  • I might be a loosier, but you're the one who's P.U. Man, you stink.

  • 62-10...just remember how we crushed you

and "defend the rock"..that's a joke

  • Defend the Pebble.

  • Yes, P.U. I know dude, it means Purdue University.

  • thats mature

  • remember, each bowl game is it's own championship...and winning a bcs national championship is much more difficult than a basketball championship....

how many bowls has IU been to?

  • Not a lot, I'll admit. But you remember this: you might have clinched the Rose Bowl at Memorial Stadium, but you still lost to a guy named Tuiasosopo.

And now, I'm choosing to put an end to this, because I have nothing else nice to say, so I won't say anything else at all in this thread.

  • Well, if you're counting the Toilet Bowl, they have Purdue beat by a ton. If not, then Purdue wins that category.

  • 62-10 win over IU, more BigTen Championships than IU. Winning record vs anybody in the BigTen in bball. Got farther in the tournament last year. Better defense than IU. Last year finished a higher rank and ahead of you guys in the Big Ten race. I'd say Purdue wins.

  • National Championships: IU 23, PU 3

Big Ten Championships: IU 161, PU66

The numbers don't lie, your school is a fucking joke.

  • Purdue owns Indiana in basketball check the all time series

  • What a sad sad thing to do to trash this great moment in honor of a great coach and a great man.

    Shame on you.

  • Check the only stat that matters.

    IU championships-5

    Purdue championships-0

Are you a Kentucky fan, if so I cannot brag about anything to you can I?

  • @CaseyP543 Purdue does have one National Championship (1932)--don't casually write it off, it matters, just like pre-BCS football championships.

Purdue leads the Big Ten in total conference championships.

Purdue leads its all-time series with all Big Ten teams.

IU isn't even close to Purdue, unlike Ohio State, Iowa, and Illinois.

  • @DJCamYank Well, the NCAA doesn't recognize it. They recognize the pre-BCS football championships. And you're right, we're not close to Purdue- we have more championships and Final Fours.

  • I can't lie, I got a little choked up with the Jane Hoeppner interview.

  • Those Indiana uniforms are super cool.

  • IU got creamed at the bowl game though

  • From a USF Bull, congrats. You guys deserved this.

A great story. Hats off to the players, coaches, staff, fans, school faculaty, and of course hte Hoeppner family.

    God bless you, IU!

  • Thank you. We play you guys in Bloomington in 2009.

  • I think Indiana goes 7-5 next year and gets another bowl bid.

  • I say 8-4, but we shall have to wait and see.

  • i was happy for indiana, but as a hawkeye fan i was mad because it cost us a bowl bid.

  • The stadium was dead silent prior to the ref's call.

  • great game i was there...the announcer sounds drunk at 3:19 lol

  • This has got to be the feel good story of the 2007 football season. I'm very happy for IU and its fans.

  • big Boiler fan, but this is the feel good story of the season. Congrats to IU, you guys deserve this more than us. Good luck against Okie State!

  • Thank you for your generous message and congratulations on Purdue's win in the Motor City Bowl.

  • Thak you for showing class as a Purdue fan.

  • What the hell is up with Purdue's clock management?

  • I just watched it again, and a tear ran down my cheek. Brennaman said it well that all the emotions were being pored out in the Rock that night!

  • Best game I've ever seen

  • I don't even like IU football very much and that was FREAKING AWESOME!

  • starr is a real star

  • Heps Hoosiers....Gotta Love Lynch !!!

  • Awesome! Thank you FWbigred for posting this. What a great win! We will remember this for a long time.

  • WE GOT BUCKET!!!!

  • enjoy it for your last couple of months

    it's coming back to lafayette

    i guarantee it

  • Never guarantee anything- if it doesn't work out, you end up with a huge egg on your face.
