The Japanese version doesn't rhyme, (tsu-ku-ri-ma-shou!) but then rhyming isn't really important in Japanese songs anyway... and yeah a bunch of you otaku out there could rattle off a bunch of anime songs that DO rhyme but whatever...

At least the second line of the English song is fairly close to the meaning of the Japanese, AND it rhymes, which makes it equally cute IMO.

Dubbing, overall, just has a different effect. Since English itself is not bad and does not suck at all-- proven in the voice acting of Fairy Odd Parents and other cartoons that English voice actors are just as capable as Japanese voice actors. To me, English cartoons dubbed in Japanese sounds rather unusual, too. But they try their best. :)

Also, the voice actor for Chiyo is forcing her voice up so high makes it so hard for me to bear, which is why I don't like English dubs because everything sounds awfully staged. I mean if you watch an English drama dubbed in Chinese, you'd have the same effect. And Chiyo is speaking in polite speech in Japanese which softens everything and makes it sound so good but English doesn't have this differentiation. xD

I don't know. In English is sounds really stupid only because somethings when said in Japanese, you can't quite literally translate it into English and so it makes it sound so forced and unnatural to say it. For example, "tsukurimashoo" is technically "making together" but you can't really say that so they changed it to "cooking is so fun" which makes it sound like a lot like Dora especially when it's repetitive.

Tomoko Kaneda (her Japanese seiyuu) was born in May of 1973, which makes her 37 years old at the moment.
