A very beautiful rendition of all of the above, it was meant to bring people together. As for your thoughts that Dixie has racist connotations,

It may be easy to misunderstand to outsiders, but in the South there is still a significant culture (no, not rednecks) of anti-federalism, and independence. Many people, myself included, feel more loyalty to their individual states than to the Feds. 'Dixie' itself, while ironically written by a Northerner, still remains popular to this day. Now, the reason many think Dixie is racist is because they have been taught to believe this;

I have never particularly been an Elvis fan, and I am not American, but fucking hell... this video - with Eric's sweet and powerful voice, had me in tears. When Manowar do songs like this and Nessun Dorma, it sounds like one of their own. Eric has that kind of voice that makes a song his own when he sings it. He steps right into the spirit of the song and becomes at one with it.
