One of the unique abilities that has saved sharks from extinction for millenia is their ability to reproduce according to resources. When there's a lot of fish (As happens with low shark populations) they increase.
There's been nothing to show that those things have affected shark populations, usually they're a very local damages situation, and sharks have a lot of roaming room. However, the real threat to sharks is basically anything that threatens fish populations.

Sharks, atleast Great Whites are slaughtered far, far faster than they are capable of catching up with. They take 13(m) 14(f) years to reach a maturity level, and its these sharks (ie the big ones) that are being targetted by poachers.

The main reason people get attacked by sharks, is if you were a shark in the ocean and you looked up and saw a surfer on his surfboard paddling, what would you think? you would think it was a seal, which is a sharks normal food, what happens during a shark attack, you get bit, and the shark lets go, cause it realizes you are not it's normal food. Wow, you are perceptive! But as unpleasant as that would be, I never said that they enjoyed having their fins hacked off, I rather think they don't like it, but your analogy is still a stupid one. so says you! :) the point here is doing these things to other species isnt right! okay! and we are not above the rest of the species we are still with them but we are causing harm against them and that must stop, so what the cutting of fins for only fins is wrong and that is why i said that, in my other comment, how would you like it if someone just collected your eyes for just your eyes! do you see where i am getting at?

I honestly wouldn't care what they did with my eyes, I'd just be upset not to have them. I'm sure the sharks aren't terribly concerned that their flesh is not being eaten (Though I must agree it is a terrible waste) as they'll die soon anyway, and be consumed by the bottom-feeders of the deep. Also, shark species are extremely resilient, and short of massive pollution, are nowhere near facing extinction. Recall that they did survive the meteor that destroyed the dinosaurs. . .

yeah but they are still doing that and when there is no stopping point the species will continue to decline until there are no more and who is to blame? and for what purpose did and are still hunting them for? fins and that is it just fins, not the whole shark just 3 things. and i suppose that you support doing that hmmmmmmm?

No, I just found your protest to it makes others who detest such inhumane actions look stupid. But the bottom line is that this has almost no ecological impact, and the carcass, though uneaten by humans (and if you've ever smelled a shark, you know why), will directly support many other lifeforms in the ocean.

There's not enough people doing this to exceed their reproductive rate. Sharks are actually a species in incline right now, from everything we've been able to gather. One of the unique abilities that has saved sharks from extinction for millenia is their ability to reproduce according to resources. When there's a lot of fish (As happens with low shark populations) they increase.

There's been nothing to show that those things have affected shark populations, usually they're a very local damages situation, and sharks have a lot of roaming room. However, the real threat to sharks is basically anything that threatens fish populations.

What I'm saying, is that though those things are very harmful to local areas, sharks have the unique adaptability to roam to new areas. While I am very against this kind of cruelty to animals, I am more against ignorant people (you) ranting about subjects they have no idea about. Sharks, atleast Great Whites are slaughtered far, far faster than they are capable of catching up with. They take 13(m) 14(f) years to reach a maturity level, and its these sharks (ie the big ones) that are being targetted by poachers.

And ofr the reasons they are hunted, If anyone has seen any documentaries on sharks, when they are kiled, the only part people have been taking is their fins, for shark fin soup. It is sad, and a disgrace, to see these animals treated like this, they are so vital to the ecosystem of the ocean, they need protection from being fished. all species of sharks need to be protected, they are NOT man eaters. Watch the films on them, and you wlil all understand that

The main reason people get attacked by sharks, is if you were a shark in the ocean and you looked up and saw a surfer on his surfboard paddling, what would you think? you would think it was a seal, which is a sharks normal food, what happens during a shark attack, you get bit, and the shark lets go, cause it realizes you are not it's normal food. They are not man eaters, they are just looking for food, to survive. They need to be protected instead of hunted.
