It's pretty amazing how much this model resembles a market of pure, true and free capitalism. We would have been on a level like this years ago if it weren't for corporate greed and our puppet governments willingness to let them ravage the planet and it's occupants to line the pockets of their share holders. This is a great example of utilizing the internet's networking ability to bring about change and to remind people that sometimes, we must vote and bring about change with our pocketbooks.
You have the right idea, try and apply it to bigger targets though. BTW, if YOU got into LED lighting etc, then not only would both your customers and yourself profit, but you'd be helping your mission for GW too.
Driving around to all those stores multiple times, printing off all that fake money, just for 22% of the profit of that one event to go to energy improvments on one store. Wow. What the fuck is with environmentalists sometimes. I wonder if they just wanna make themselves feel better or if they actually want to combat AGW.
great idea guys! man I love san francisco! sillicon valley; the best ideas come from right there; google, youtube! Germany has picked up the idea, but it is still far too scarce. this thing needs to spread to really see some results!
wow now we can have 1 energy efficioent carrotmob liqour store per neighbourhood, such amazing progress, new lighbulbs! We all win! (yes, that is sarcasm... in order to get one store to improve their own lighting we have to do all that???)
Geez jkrych. Money doesn't really grow on moneytrees and it isn't really gone once you spend it. It's about cash flow.
This is a great way to vote with your feet and dollars to make an impact. A lot of people do this by themselves. Carrotmob is just organizing it to make an immediate result to prove a point. Both to the consumer and the companies.
But it takes a lot more than carrotmob to make a real impact. The consumer needs to start thinking about every purchase by themselves.
so you had to spend 9200 and he only spent just over 2000 on lighting for a savings of .887 KW? that doesnt exactly sound like an investment for the future.i think we are going to run out of money before the world is a better place.
my point is, the store raised 9200 dollars. he only spend 2000 on lighting. i think this would be a better effort if he spent ALL the money he earned. think about it, this guy juststuck 7200 in his pocket.
ummm...we were already beat to this idea, by the corporations. you see, this may work in cali where there are people wealthy enough to open independent stores. there are only chains where i live. i think this is a cool idea, but i am unable to participate. i think that holds true for many.
for now... but we are working on a way to make it work for global brands. In the meantime, have you asked any of those chains if they're franchises? Many of them are, which means that technically, they're locally owned and have some autonomy.
Great idea for local activism, but difficult to achieve on a multinational level - which is where I think the largest problems lie. However, has anyone set up a Carrotmob group for diffrent regions? I'd like to see Carrotmob swarming craigslist.
I like this movie; think about the consequences for transport and energy. We can make these companies open their innovation instead of keeping it for themselves in order to compete, and by this we can start living from abundance, not from artificial scarcity!!
consumers band together and only buy in participating stores within reason. If the awareness of such a project soaks into this media hypnotized society then we re onto a winner.could this be localized? might there be a join up registration process?could your agents iniate thgis in their own areas?
you might want to try out t. ex. facebook. do a search and it's more than possible that there is a local group already formed. if not, why not form one yourself?
$2040 did what?

SUGGESTION, you need to also set ETF's something to short sell the company that doesn't co-operate. Twice the threat.

Yeah, it's a great idea, like a negative boycott or something. But you've got to be careful about the greenwash, though... and about bribes.
