Joseph Smith was a con man convicted in the state of NY. Look it up, see the truth or join the mormon cult the has no proof of any claims they have. Even the witness to Joseph Smith story recanted his statement as to the false claims of gold plates, that were really the King James Bible. @sumerumountain Joseph Smith was not convicted in New York of any crime, either the 1826 trial or the 1830 trial. In the 1826 he was charged $2.68 for court fees by the Constable. NO witnesses against Joseph Smith or Verdict were recorded in either trial. Walters' conclusions about the 1830 and 1826 trials are not well-supported by the evidence...he uses circuitous chain of tortured reasoning to convince the reader that he has proven his case. Walters is not an objective historian.

This talk by Elder Holland is fantastic. I remember when he first gave it, I was going through a somewhat difficult trial. It brought peace and perspective to my heart, and magnified my gratitude for the work of the servant and prophet Joseph.
