"Walking the Dog" is also the name of a 1937 George Gershwin piece, sometimes called "Promenade." It was written for the movie "Shall We Dance" starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.

I have heard a 1917 rendition of Walking the dog, in a Edison Blue Amberol cylinder record. The differences are interesting.

This is got to be the most bizarre video I've seen yet and it looks like there are more vids of people filming their record players, this isn't the version of walking the dog i was expecting, Should I be listening to the aerosmith one or the rollings stones one?

fateback dot com dates it between 1950-51 (YouTube won't let me post the link). Go to Capitol, 1950-51, and Control-F "Dog" twice to get Capitol #1486. :-)
