Ah, the good old "Yob Counterweight" theory. Doesn't work when the yob weighs 150 lbs, the forklift he's trying to hold down weighs 10,000 lbs, and the load the forklift is trying to lift weighs 6,000 lbs...
These are the same people that scauf at a degreed engineer. They will be the first to say that they "know what will happen" when in fact, they will be on an insurance roster. Sad
My only problem with this is the guy riding it. And the driver was lifting it too high. If you need to move something as heavy as that, you just tilt back.
Once had an idiot supervisor do exactly as depicted here.I offered to move 2 pallets aside to make room for another guy w/bigger truck, but was told the steel was needed RIGHT NOW, or *GASP!!* the PRODUCTION LINE STOPS!! Horrors!!! I only tried to lift the rolls just for an "It's too heavy!" demonstration, which is when he jumped on.Isn't it odd i've never got a good reference from the place? Oh wait! Probably cuz I told the owner of the joint to go f*ck himself, but i could be wrong :p
I hope that the driver had carried out his daily safety checks on the vehicle before he drove it, he could be in big trouble with the HSE if he didn't!
OSHA would have a fit over this

It would have been really bad if OSHA had seen that.

let's see, a forklift, probably max rating 4000 lbs, and a coil, my estimate 8600 pounds, let me do my math, ummmmm, yep adds up to two morons
