My age is 96 years and I served with the Royal Navy. Many times we found bodies and wrecked boats by accident. I do not believe that this is a viable case because as always with maritime we do not know and see everything. Also, because Australia has signed this treaty, like many other peaceful states, then the taking of refugees, many who have been subjected to persecution and violence which you have no capacity to understand, IS OUR PROBLEM. Futhermore, adovocating the sinking of ships and murder of innocent civilians is promoting terrorism.

@petermelb Indonesia is not signitory to the UN treaty on refugees. Therefore, the refugees have a UN and internationally recognied right to seek asylum in countries party to the treaty. As very few countries in Asia are signitory, Australia is bound to take some of these refugees if they conform to the criteria of an asylum seeker.

A word from my Dad.
My age is 96 years and I served with the Royal Navy. Many times we found bodies and wrecked boats by accident. I do not believe that this is a viable case because as always with maritime we do not know and see everything. To find a small boat with 2007 technology before it has sunk, even high technology operating in the area, this is very difficult. Too many buts and ifs for this case to stand up, (sadly). Where were the Philipean sevices?
