In 1999 Republicans passed a bill that repealed Glass Steagal, essentially deregulated the banks. That plus the unnecessary expensive Iraq war, and Tax cuts
cause the Great Recession of 2009 that Obama is attempting to fix.

STIM is based on the concept of balance, Health care reform is based on the concept of balance, increase taxes on Millionaires & Billionaires is based on the concept of balance. And the list goes on. Derulating the economy and giving breaks to the Rich is based on the concept of "SELF".

We want to stop the abuse of this concept that went on for 8 years under Bush. Simple. The Middle Class was the target of the abuse. you and me.

@maharajakal I have no quarrel with upper, middle or lower class people, just people that abuse the system and treat others un-fairly. Republicans believe in deregulating even sensitive parts of our financial sector and economy. Leaving room for Executives to rape all other classes. i.e. shipping jobs overseas, disregarding the environment, covering up faulty balance sheets to report non-existent profits, trading complex worthles securities. The result, RECESSION. thanks Republican ideology.

@mhamil973 there you go again with this us against them mentality. why do you think that world is filled with certain amount of money. it is not a zero sum game. we can always grow the pie. some low skilled jobs may have gone overseas, but the high paying jobs are still in United States. a healthy world economy is good for United States. and the thing about recession, it happens. go to a socialized country you not find recovery. there you will find permanent recession.

@mhamil973 it is not a hope strategy. it has worked in the 80's, 90's. and 2000- 2007. did you known that JFK was for reducing taxes for all section of the society. same policies that republicans have. think about this question before answering. who in the top 2 percent is going to abuse the system more? government or private sector employee. while answering that question think about countries like china and north korea

@maharajakal Obama has given so many incentives to business that hire, and keep jobs here in the USA. The private sector needs to just step up now. Even if taxes on "small businesses" go up, they have so man incentives backed by OBAMA policies, to reap back a significant portion of that. This recovery that we are seeing is because Obama's policies are working. Republicans have not contributed anything. They voted "NO" remember.

@mhamil973 recovery! what recovery. the unemployment number is at 9.6 percent. real unemployment is at 17.9 percent. under bush unemployment never went up over 6 percent. instead of living in a bubble go out and ask a small business person, who does the taxes and regulation effect their profit and hiring new employees. germany kept its taxes low and reduced government spending and today it has come out of recession. more people are employed in germany than ever before. they have lowest unempl no

@maharajakal Yep we are in a recovery. Slow but it's true. Wake up and turn off FOX "news". "The Car is moving, slowly, but it is moving." Private sector has hired 100K+ jobs every month since June.
Unemployment is 9.6% because the Temporary Gov't jobs are done. OBAMA Adminstration hired people temporary while the private sector gains steam. And it's WORKING. It's ashame that the Repubs are going to get some of the love for the recovery. Damn Shame.

@mhamil973 i knew it you are more concerned that republicans are going to get the credit. thats the difference between you and me. i hope for the people getting jobs regardless of who is in the administration. it is hard to argue on a point when obama already gave in about extending the tax cuts for people who are earning over 250000 dollars. he understand that, he cant go forward without doing something about tax cuts.

@mhamil973 obama did not reduce the deficit. he increased the deficit by 800 billion in the month of february of 2009, just one month into his presidency. that is all the deficit we had from george washington to George Bush. 1 trillion dollar heath care plan, which doesnt reduce health care price at all. infact my price went up by 20 percent. you are a joke if you think obama reduced the deficit.
