If GM wanted to make a 40-mile-range EV with a small 1000 cc range-extender, it could do so with LEAD ACID batteries. There are MANY 40-mile-range EVs. GM is a liar, they don't need Lithium.
The NiMH RAV4-EV goes 120 miles, the NiMH EV1 went 140 miles (EPA certified) 200 at a pinch.
If GM's only source of income were from electric hybrids like the Chevy Volt, they'd be making millions of them. "Stop buying or leasing NEW gasoline powered cars". See my vids.
Maybe gm shouldn't have killed the electric car in the 90s?

The volt is definately the sharpest looking of the type of car. At least its a start. Although Hydrogen fuel cells are my bet
