  • A nobel prize in physics should have been awarded to Jens Kidman... Perpetual Black Second can cause infinite headbanging!! \m/

  • The 8th notes on the high hat step is groovy with the rest of teh band

  • VÄRLDENS HÅRDASTE BAND!

  • Bollocks. You fags all try to make Meshuggah's music soooo much more complicated than it is. EVERYTHING they do has a basic 4/4 feel. There are no fucked up time sigs, or mega-brain counting paterns. Watch and listen to Tomas's right hand 90 percent of the time. Bang bang bang bang = 1 2 3 4. Fred simply takes odd metered riffs and cycles them over the even time sig, giving the aural impression of polyrhythm, when in fact it is not. Like Marten once said - it's a rhythmic exercise.

  • @guitarheel99 you mad you arent them?

  • @MrViOlEnCeIsGoLdEn Actually yes LOL! Not downing the band at all - I am a HUGE fan of the Shuggah. I just get tired of "know-it-alls" trying to make it sound overly complicated. Dont get me wrong - it IS overly complicated LOL, but the base of the music is still very fundamental. \m/

  • @guitarheel99 just fucking with you lol and yeah, i used to think their stuff was in weird ass timings, but its really not. its mostly basic 4/4 beats, with some cut timing and polyrhythms, but still hard as fuck haha

  • @tommydo1e No, I know how to count.

  • for anybody who dosent know, you can play any song in the whole world in 4/4 it will just look weird on the music ans i think be a polyrythm

  • SWEDES RULE!

  • In the solo you can hear the UFOs come!

  • I like how everyone gives thumbs up to this guy who claims anything in the entire song is 5/8 over 4/4 which is bullshit.

  • @rololoo

    But he didn't.

  • @faselblaDer3te

    I said anything, not everything.

  • @rololoo

Oh, that was my bad, I'm sorry.

  • Im sure you clowns have put more thought into this than the band even does, just give it a rest and enjoy, christ sake

  • Oh Jens... I see you headbanging to the crash and not the snare you motherfucker...

  • This is the greatest songgg ever fucking madeeeeee !!! omfg Perpetuall BLACK SECONNNNNNDDDDDD !

  • I love that poly-metered style the fathered. The riff swings on the upbeat to the downbeat like a pendulum. Too bad no other bands in the djent spectrum can get it right.

  • @icumsludge i think i've heard one other, but i can't remember their name. and i've only heard one song of them.

  • @metaldemonseanknels Animals as leaders are very good, Tosin Asabi is a very nice guy too. Probably the only other Djent i like.

  • dam ive never seen such a cleen crisp no mistakes live preformance like meshuggah. they really are gods i guess

  • meshuggah, the definition of doing it right..

  • i'm sure the singer is counting in his head when he needs to headbang

  • Meshuggah music always makes me feel AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHLIVE!!!!!

  • @Chromosome1919 FUCKING ALRIGHT!!!!

  • I like Jens's little dance at 4:28.

  • Meshuggah - the only band in the world capable to write a song whose best moment is the outro!!!!

  • 8-string orgasm

  • I wish I could tap like frederik

  • Good advice - do not eat and headbang in the same time. Fuck...

  • 0:59 Jesus Christ, Jens' headbanging is so hard he could probably demolish Mt Everest to rubble in one song.

  • ladies and gentlemen, the outro has just made me jizz with joy :)

  • Comment removed

  • Ever noticed how heavy Jens Kidman's accent is in this song? He's ridiculously Swedish.

  • @TheRayven760 He's not just Swedish, he's RIDICULOUSLY Swedish!! lol

  • this shit sounds even sicker live

  • If Jens Kidman ever headbutted someone they would instantly be obliterated

  • @ThrashMetalMan1 Easily, and Geezus would it it be the most brutal headbutt ever.

  • 4:30 the best outro of a song ever.

  • Im more into hiphop now, but my love for meshuggah will never die, amazing group of musicians. Real recognize real!

  • 3:11 onwards. Ghost notes. Oh shiiiiiiiiiitt!

  • I swear to god, listining to Meshuggah is the biggest mindfuck since LSD

  • @Headbanger9000 listen to periphery, it's like this but with singing lol

  • @bubbasock Periphery is amazing, but they're nothing like Meshuggah

  • @TheRayven760 They just need to switch out their singer :D

  • @BeardedDanishViking You know, I saw Periphery live last thursday. I dont particularly mind the singer on the record, but live he's just fucking terrible.

  • @Headbanger9000

smoke dmt while listening to meshuggah, utter enlightenment.

  • no way they are humans, no way.

  • @AluminiumSFD Well, I'm pretty sure Buckethead is a Robot-Alien being.

So I'm also sure that Meshuggah are humans, with Sub-conscious minds of Cyborg-phantom-extraterrestrials.

... makes sense if you don't think about it.

  • Holy Fuck, I want to Die, dissolve and be reborn as sound with the ability to dissapiate within and become the actuality of this Noise.

  • Please. Come. To. UK.

  • Jesus Christ, what an opener.

  • my all-time favorite.

  • Meshuggah sounds even more fucking brutal live than on the albums lol

  • @911violentagro With awesome Slow-thrust Bald-ass Headbanging to boot

\,,,/, (>_<) ,\,,,/ and the groove puts all the Deathcore thing fucks shits too shame

  • Please. Come. To. Florida.

  • sounds a bit like "new metal"-esque drop-tuned riffs performed over fusion-style drum patterns.

(riff at 3:38 is f'n sweet!)

  • BAD ASS

  • Incinerated my ass off.

  • I would hate to make one error as the drummer

  • one word to desribe the guitar sound in this song "ROBOTBOGANGKING"

  • the cheesy metal-stuff (long hair-banging, devils horns etc.) does not suit this extraordinary band well imho.

  • @Thronsohn

they don't give a fuck imho.

  • They have an undescribable guitar sound, sounds almost like the destruction of mainstream music

  • Djent djent - djent djent djent - djent djent

  • Everytime they break into a new riff, I get shivers.

  • gota get the dvd for chrismas lol

  • @zerogravity121 It will be the best present ever ;)

  • The last part is orgasmic.

  • 5/8 over 4/4 fuck me.

  • @DrFeelgood56 oh that's nothing compared to their other song called combustion one part has 6/4 on drums over a 16/8 guitar riff that plays like three different melody... yeah im talking about the really fast part... after that song the drummer must be like " um... guys... i can't feel my arms or legs".

  • @spawn10317 haha yeah. Although I find this signature a lot harder on drums than combustion.

  • @ddrumdude Aye, the main riff for Combustion has a slightly more straightforward feel to it, where as this has a load of shifting accents!

  • @DrFeelgood56 I counted 6/8, are you sure? I could be wrong though

  • @DrFeelgood56 Could you please tell me in more detail what that exactly means, please? I haven't studied musical terms too much...

  • @pktgfishbone ummm basically the guitars count to 5, 8 times using 8th notes and the 9th time they count to 6 as it lines up with drummer who is steadily counting to 4 using quarter notes. However the drummer is also counting with the guitarist as he is accenting with his left hand on the crash cymbal. But thats just the first riff. and I don't feel like breaking down the whole song haha

  • @DrFeelgood56 you know your shit man, gj :-D

  • @aaron2414 haha I've spent many hours obsessing over this stupid band. AAAHHH!! lol

  • @DrFeelgood56 its 4 bars of 7/4 over 4/4 then the last bar of the phrase they line up and go into it again...unless you were talking about a different part...but yeah crazy fuckin song

  • @tresdave33 if you're talking about the beginning it's actually 7/8 played over a 4/4 drum beat

  • @DrFeelgood56 where is there 5/8 in the song?

  • @DrFeelgood56 Odd numbers of 8 are actually pretty easy, the up and downbeat just reverse every repetition. Get your upbeats down and you'll be fine. Practice tapping along to the quarter notes in a song and occasionally switching the beats by playing one of the beats as an 8th and resume playing quarters. ;) All hail Meshuggah.

  • @x60mmx haha I actually figured out how to play it simply by listening to them... all... the time and less counting and more feeling. but yes the way you just put it would help... i think (begins experiment)

  • @DrFeelgood56 isn't this in 7/8 then 9/8?

  • @ohemeffgee3 No. They're in 4/4. They're always in 4/4. Their groupings are simply uncommon. *sigh*

  • @HaldirMark No no no, usually their songs, if anything, are in 8/4. Which yes, is very different to 4/4. Apart from that, their riffs/bass/bass drum are odd time playing simultaneously with 4/4 on hands on drums. Odd groupings would be pentuplets or whatever which they don't use.

  • @TheModCon ...The entire definition of 'odd' groupings is uncommon. It has nothing to do with the type of notes. :/ But, whatever. Everyone's a musician.

  • @HaldirMark Uh yes it does. An odd grouping is a group of notes that contain uncommon note values, you're talking about odd rhythmic groupings.

  • @DrFeelgood56 The beginning is 7/8 over 4/4 homey

  • fucking love the guitar solo

  • outro makes me shiver.

  • one of my absolutely FAVORITE tracks!

  • Jeses H CHRIST!! words cant describe how much i love this band, theyre a rythmic acid trip nightmare!! everything is abt rythm, hell they even headbang in rythm! Epic....

  • what happened is, meshuggah came from the Mayans. records show that Fredrick created there calenders.

  • @agilelow Sorry, I voted you down by accident. This actually made my day. XD

  • When they break all the guitars down on that final riff exactly at 4:44, it is so fucking intense

  • love it how Jens headbangs to the guitars timing at the beggining

  • @Willferox I think its more like the snare

  • @plowingzero I think it's more like the crash cymbal lmfao

  • @plowingzero It's not the snare. It's the crash as slowblood99 noted, which is following the guitars

  • This band is fucking awesome LIVE!!

  • 4:45

  • i put off suicide to hear their new album

  • @joshplayin111 Music has kept me alive too my friend.

  • Most original metal band out there. saved metal into a new idea, a new feeling of intense. I think they'll go down in metal history as one the most important bands ever in this overlay.

  • Damn, I really need to see these guys live.....what a sick band!!!!

  • The power grooves in this song are simply awesome, and the breakdown after the intro is SICK.

  • I've got polyrhythm arousal.

  • at 0:59 looks like jens hits the cymbal or whatever it is with his head!

  • @devilsystem You mean snare.

  • @waywards1nn3r no, not the snare. it's a cymbal or something else

  • @devilsystem Now that I listen to it, I think its not the drums at all. I think its the guitar he's headbanging to.

  • can the band get any more awesome?

  • Another weapon in the fight against my neighbour and his crappy sing along folk and pop music! Meshuggah will terrorize him forever.. MueHaHa.. he he

  • @sharpasabowlingball Wow. Fucking clever aren't you!?! WHO CARES THAT YOU CAN TYPE GUITAR SOUNDS OUT IN A COMMENT!????? If you can play it, then you will be cool. Until then, shut the FUCK up!!!

  • @biohazard101q Thank you for your thoughtful and heart-warming response, good sir. My "guitar sounds" comment, while apparently very clever, is actually called an onomatopoeia. Please use the correct terminology from now on, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your kind words.
