I've done this musical. Just FYI. I didn't play the role of Cpt., Andrews or ismay, played the Role of Jim Ferrel. That doesn't mean I can be a judge of acting and singing quality..
The Captain's blatant lack of reaction the entire time was the most disappointing, rewatching it.
I think that was a sublime performance. From all three, that song can be sooo mellow dramatic but I felt they performed in a realistic manner. It's so believable it gives me goosebumps :L
My school JUST preformed this...My best friend was Mr. Ismay. Every one thought he was he was 50 because of his talent but he's only 15! I love this scene!
@MrFreakyphil This is broadway though, I don't think you have the credentials to really critique them unless you've been in their shoes and are on broadway as well lol
Thanks for posting. This is one of my favorite musicals. I saw these guys, the original cast, on b'way in 1999. Loved it! I also saw Death of A Salesman that year too. Great year for Theatre!
Do you know where we can get a full video/partially-complete video?

I actually find it really funny how Mr. Andrews is bald.

I'm just writing these as I see them.
Dialogue before lacked urgency from Mr. Bride (Radioman).
Ismay (hitler moustache) screwed up on tempo, nice cover by the pit.
Captain is a statue.
Ismay screwed up again.
Andrews, the guy in the gray suit, is having WEIRD emotion transitions.
Andrews screwed up tempo.
Andrews, while yelling at Ismay, didn't even look at him.
The only dynamic for these guys is Forte. Even during the soft parts of the scene.
Good sound, not so good acting. 7.8/10

What does CQD stand for?
RosesNightengales 1 year ago
@RosesNightengales
CQ was a commonly used phrase by Wireless Operators to instruct their colleagues to listen for an urgent message, and the D was for Distress.

This is a good song...especially because there were people that claimed even God himself would not be able to sink the ship

@JackStrawbridge this is a wonderful musical and was apparently successful on broadway. i have no clue why its so unknown
