How about we all get together and create a time machine so we can go back to the 60s, hell it would beat living in this era of bieber and gaga bullshit!! LONG LIVE THE BEATLES!!!!!!! But im serious about this time machine thing lol!
If only amp and PA technology was a bit more advanced these later gigs would have been magical. BUT I guess it's like going back in a time machine, what they did is what pushed the science of audio ahead so we go round and round and round!
@TCTriangle My wife saw these boys at the Sydney Stadium but unlike most of the girls there she went FOR THE MUSIC and was totally disappointed. Imagine it, 2 VOX AC30s and a Vox Bass amp and a Ludwig kit trying to be heard over 2000 screaming dumb assed girlies.
haha, well for your consolidation ,these days you hardly get any reaction out of the crowds, which is better, japan is always an option if you want to "hear" a band play, I've never seen as much respect for a performance as in the latter. & if you too are the proud owner of a p90 goldtop, I share your exhilaration towards the fine instrument. peace
Kind of remind me of the Grateful Dead the way they tune, noodle, and riff beforehand. I can only imagine how totally awesome(to use a cliche!) it would be to see these guys live. They would STILL sound great today,44 years later! This clip debunks all of the BS about "they were only good in the studio".
starprincess66. The year could have been late 65', but most likely 66'. They stopped touring in 66' and this looks like 66' to me. And of course they couldn't hear themselves as the technology had not caught up yet. Perfect example of why they stopped touring. The sound was horrible. Not their fault. They all complained. Could you imagine someone NOT having monitors these days? Just 6 months later live concerts for other artists improved drastically as other artists demanded it.
starprincess66. If your speaking about how the sound systems became better. It's not that louder is better necessarily, it's that when a musician on stage cannot hear themselves properly it's like singing with headphones on. ALL artists & sound engineers started using monitor spkrs. placed in front of the stage. Then they started playing through PROPER sound systems instead of just the guitar amps. Ever notice musicians with ear pieces? That's so they can hear themselves. It's newer technology.
i didn't say i thought it was better, i just don't understand how the volume suddenly got louder, technically. i don't like it loud. i said cool because it's cool that u know so much about this.
starprincess66. I wasn't sure what you meant on the other comment. I can't answer as to why the sound got louder. I believe just a sign of the times changing. Plus technology did get much better and allowed for cleaner better sound even at higher volumes. I do like certain types of music loud. But not to the point where it hurts my ears. I just want to stress that live sound got drastically better very shortly after the Beatles stopped touring. And that's a shame for recorded LIVE Beatle music.
Jimi Hendrix..case in point..without the screaming girls...yes, live performing conspired against the Beatles from Beatlemania '63 -'66...but they proved the cynics wrong with the free rooftop gig.
i love how ringo use the hi-hat and the crash
