I have to disagree. It's -because- someone appreciates Rolls Royce and what it -use- to stand for that they would be offended by some of the older models. Throughout the 90's and prior to the Bentley/Rolls recent tweaks it was Bentley that stole the show for being both luxurious and brilliantly fast. Rolls however is a purely aristocratic car with nothing but SUPER luxury in mind built for kings. Up until recently, and I daresay now, although much less...Rolls has dropped the ball.

The Bentley has less to live up to in terms of ridiculous luxury and yet they're probably far more popular in the US simply because a lot of these rich, jaded old millionaires also lived through the 60's. To have even a 90's Bentley 6.75 turbo is just leagues different than the new putt-putt BMW V12, and some of the inner trim (as well as shape) of models like this offended the market entire.

Take a DB9:

-add 50 hp,some carbon bodywork and brakes ( to save 60 pounds), change the shocks,add a stop watch, a fancy stereo,add a DBS sticker and charge $100k more than a DB9. Which is why they sell so few.

All which makes no difference in street driving,but some on a race track where they will never be used anyways.
