Hey guys! Is GeForce GTX 570 better then this card? Because I don't know will I buy Gigabyte GTX 480 or Gainward GTX 570 ''Golden Sample'' Goes Like Hell.

i got my gtx 480 but when ever i play a game it switches off my pc i sent back to the company i bought it from they said it worked fine they said it might be my power supply i bought a ez cool 700 watt supply it was a cheap one i bought a year and a half ago could that be the problem?
@synveng could be several things : .. your power supply could overheat if upside down.............. it could be that your GTX 480 has a conflict with ur (it sounds stupid) network drivers if it isrealtek go down to 2008 drivers.............................. it could be your cpu as well (overheating).. or you GPU is overheating... and some more shit but figger it out

i dont see what the big deal with this tessellation is know it gives objects more depth and looks really really good but by the time you actually get to use tessellation properly in games is still years away by which then this card will be outdated.

@slipknotnorm Its better than the GTS 450, not just cause its DX11. Clocks are way higher, Memory is GDRR5, god man 3d vision, cuda ETC ETC. It is a great upgrade from the GTS 250 trust me bro

YES it is worth the money dont trip dude, I own both cards I ran benchmarks and tests. It is well worth it, epically for DX11 and 3Dvision its worth it dude.

well the tests are major bias using older dx10 where their is no performance gain on the 480.
The 480 competes with 5970 on the new dx11 games the 5970 fps lead drops dramatically and the 5970 is a dual GPU card and $180 more so its a false comparison anyway
OMG! The GTX 480 lost sometimes even from 5870!!! That's why the 5870 is more expensive now... GTX 480 isn't a good card to buy... It's better to have GTX 460 in SLI which saves you almost $100 and you have about the same fps!
Although raw Frame averages say ATI, they have humongous micro stutter as well as lower min FPS in practically every test no matter what Nvidia seems to give a smoother performance yes more expensive but you get CUDA and PhysX , as well as DX 11 implementation that is far superior to that of ATI's look beyond the black and white print Nvidia actually does something else beyond raw numbers in a lab ( ive owned both ATI and Nvidia not a fanboy of other just my 2 cents)

Nvidia and ATI always switch places constantly between who has the better GPUs. It's not like AMD and Intel where Intel almost always has the stronger CPU. ATI is on top now, Nvidia will beat out ATI soon, ATI will beat Nvidia after, it will just keep going back and forth. We should be thankful this is happening because it causes the companies to try harder.

@ribak1983 The technologies is by far more advanced than 128bit you just dont know it because its not revealed yet but in montreal where i live at ETS they developped some technologies that they dont know exactly how to reproduced and take too much time to do and money but trust me 128 is nothing for where they are today in technologies

How come the performance gab between the 480 and 5970 are so small? They are more or less even in all the tests, 5970 only really wins the AvP one. I would have expected the 5970, being a 2GPU card, to perform a lot better than it did. It only wins the tests by a small amount. A couple of the tests even goes to 480.
In my country, the gtx480 is by far the cheapest card of the two. And i'm not gonna pay $200 extra for just 3 more fps.
No you don't have to use two cards in sli mode to do multiple monitors. A feature Nvidia has had years before eyefinity. An old 8400 or better card or even a integrated mother board graphics allows 3-4 monitors. By the way. They work in portrait and landscape combinations. Something eyefinity doesn't support to this day. ATI fails big time.

@poofartass You poor idiot. You don't need to run two cards in SLI mode. You don't even need an SLI board. IF you have a MB with an integrated graphics. For cards to run in "SLI mode" they must be the same GPU number. Multiple monitor support by Nvidia can be achieved with two different GPUs. One just works as a plug for the third or forth monitors. And are as cheap as 35. USD new. I have 3 monitors run by a 260, with my old 8800 in the extra PCIe plug. "not in SLI". Now go grow up!
@Howie47 Yeah u can connect multiple monitors like that but this was about the vision surround feature from nvidia. Feature similar to ati's eyefinity and it takes 2 cards in an sli configuration. I could get lots of cards on a board with separate connectors but that doesn't mean I am using Nvidia's Surround vision. SO shut it dude.

@Howie47 it was stated by Nvidia that u need two cards in SLI to run surround vision. iv been to places where they have tried what u are saying and only two out of the three monitors worked. Plus surround vision from Nvidia REQUIRES the GTX400 cards look at the specs. what u are saying with the 260 running two monitors and a 8800 running the other one is due to thrid party software which dosnt work for the GTX400 cards either.
@kdawgmaster You're just not understanding what is being said. If you want 3 3D monitors with 3D glasses. Then you might need as you say. All though on the SLI Zone they mention older cards. It all depends how big your monitor, resolution is.
I've got three monitors working with a 260 core 216. I don't have the "sorround vision" drivers installed. Because they havn't been released.
You just need a second different card (I've got a 8800) in a second PCIe slot, to plug the third monitor.
@Howie47 I just got done playing rFactor on my three monitors. 1280X1024 in portrait, 1920X1200 in landscape, 1280x1024 in portrait. Hope this helps clear up the confusion. As it is pretty confusing.
@kdawgmaster P.S. The older Nvidia drivers have supported my three monitor setup for a couple of years.. You only need the "thrid party app" to force games that don't open on three monitors natively. Dirt 2 doesn't need it. I don't know what places you've been. But they didn't know what they were doing!

due to the dual GPU in the 5970 I'm not impressed by the card. It is the same thing as running 2 4870s. while as GTX 480 is 1 GPU. and in q4:2010 the 495s are going to come out and eat what ever ATI has.
im not so sure we'll get a 495, the 480 uses way more power and produces way more heat than the 5870, so making a dual 480 would be really hard. maybe a dual 475 whenever they make a 475 (like the gtx 295, which was 2x 275).

@lysaer1 last Nvidia driver did for Crysis Warhead 13% more performance, for Left for Dead up to 30% Performance at Single card, and with SLI up to 28% more Performance at Left for Dead, this are just few games of alot more, but like i told, go at Nvidia, search some drivers, am whatever lets say search for GTX 285 and then u will see what changed, but like i sayd, Nvidia users knows that :)
Nvidia rules, fastest single GPU card. It's not about the fastest single SLOT card, it's about the fastest single GPU card. Dual GPU single slot cards suck. They microstutter. I hate microstutter. I love Nvidia for making fast single GPU cards.
@lysaer1 Maybe it isn't about that in this test, maybe this test is all about the fastest card regardless of it having 1 or 2 GPU's, but for me it's about what's functional and what not. I've had a GTX295 and hated it for stuttering & bad support in games. I'd rather have a graphics card that's both fast and gives smooth graphics. That's what a fast single GPU card gives you. My allergion for stutter and tearing has made me buy a 120Hz. TFT too. Now I never have to use Vsync anymore.
@KingHaggis i can't say i've had any microstutter issues since the 9800 gx2 days, of which i have 3 laying here, currently i have 3 480's in my rig and not got a problem with sli microstutter, prior to them i had 3 5870's and again no microstutter.
tearing will still occur regardless of single or multi gpu cards, that's based on the monitor and card not whether you are running multi gpu or not. obviously having a 120hz screen means you can sync @ 120fps as opposed to 60
@lysaer1 Tearing will indeed occur regardless of single or dual GPU card but microstutter only has to do with bad scaling of dual GPU cards or SLI setups. I was just pointing out how much I care for fluidity in games. I didn't mean to say tearing comes with a dual GPU card. Tearing will improve with a 120Hz TFT and that's why I bought it and because I did notice microstutter on my GTX295 card I bought me a GTX280. The fastest single GPU card back then. Much better. Now I'm gonna buy a GTX480 :-)
WOW , I cant believe after 3 years from the first Crysis reliese Nvidia & ATi latest weapons (Ati 5870 & GTX 480) are only managing mid 20 fps , we should be having 100 fps by now , I think Crysis was made with the porpose of insulting our new computers and call them crap every time we try to run the game , so we can keep expending money
I think that the most powerful video card for now, remains the 5970! Although nVidia needed many months to bring out new cards, ATI is still first....

Put physx off in nvidia control panel and then use vantage (otherwise the score is not correct)

Nvidia and ATI always switch places constantly between who has the better GPUs. It's not like AMD and Intel where Intel almost always has the stronger CPU. ATI is on top now, Nvidia will beat out ATI soon, ATI will beat Nvidia after, it will just keep going back and forth. We should be thankful this is happening because it causes the companies to try harder.

I've been ati-fan for years and i still would love them if they really had the best technology..but they haven't ..the cores of nVidia are superior..and that's just why they use so much power and heat ...If i would by a new system , this nvidia would sit in it just because it's advanced in technology..futurewise, this will outperform today's ati's by miles ..

not exactly if you know these have very different technology..
The minicores of nVidia are from way higher spec and they run on 16 supporting tesulation-cores..ati only has 1 !
So the 3d-part from nvidia is better.
I've tested them in games and benchmark ..nvidia is about 15% higher up , exept for 'stalker' for a reason i don't know.
Also know ati's is running on newer drivers..nvidia will even get a better advantage in the future.

How come the performance gab between the 480 and 5970 are so small? They are more or less even in all the tests, 5970 only really wins the AvP one. I would have expected the 5970, being a 2GPU card, to perform a lot better than it did. It only wins the tests by a small amount. A couple of the tests even goes to 480.
In my country, the gtx480 is by far the cheapest card of the two. And i'm not gonna pay $200 extra for just 3 more fps.

No you don't have to use two cards in sli mode to do multiple monitors. A feature Nvidia has had years before eyefinity. An old 8400 or better card or even a integrated mother board graphics allows 3-4 monitors. By the way. They work in portrait and landscape combinations. Something eyefinity doesn't support to this day. ATI fails big time.

@poofartass You poor idiot. You don't need to run two cards in SLI mode. You don't even need an SLI board. IF you have a MB with an integrated graphics. For cards to run in "SLI mode" they must be the same GPU number. Multiple monitor support by Nvidia can be achieved with two different GPUs. One just works as a plug for the third or forth monitors. And are as cheap as 35. USD new. I have 3 monitors run by a 260, with my old 8800 in the extra PCIe plug. "not in SLI". Now go grow up!

@Howie47 Yeah u can connect multiple monitors like that but this was about the vision surround feature from nvidia. Feature similar to ati's eyefinity and it takes 2 cards in an sli configuration. I could get lots of cards on a board with separate connectors but that doesn't mean I am using Nvidia's Surround vision. SO shut it dude.

The new 3D surround drivers coming from Nvidia. Supports 3D vision in multiple monitors. And even it, I don't think, DOESN'T HAVE TO RUN IN SLI.

@Howie47 it was stated by Nvidia that u need two cards in SLI to run surround vision. iv been to places where they have tried what u are saying and only two out of the three monitors worked. Plus surround vision from Nvidia REQUIRES the GTX400 cards look at the specs. what u are saying with the 260 running two monitors and a 8800 running the other one is due to thrid party software which dosnt work for the GTX400 cards either.

@kdawgmaster You're just not understanding what is being said. If you want 3 3D monitors with 3D glasses. Then you might need as you say. All though on the SLI Zone they mention older cards. It all depends how big your monitor, resolution is.
I've got three monitors working with a 260 core 216. I don't have the "sorround vision" drivers installed. Because they havn't been released.
You just need a second different card (I've got a 8800) in a second PCIe slot, to plug the third monitor.

@Howie47 I just got done playing rFactor on my three monitors. 1280X1024 in portrait, 1920X1200 in landscape, 1280x1024 in portrait. Hope this helps clear up the confusion. As it is pretty confusing.

Dirt 2 doesn't need it. I don't know what places you've been. But they didn't know what they were doing!

the 5870 has the highest spec of any SINGLE GPU. you can use 4x 5870 which will beat everything out there. dual GPU's you can only use 2 of. making them far worse. also the guy is a moron physx is not how good it looks its only a physics engine! and Havok is what ATI has which is pretty much the same thing! Also the power Nvidia cards have are still insane. So uh. have fun with your overpriced nvidia cards and paying more on your electric bill for hardly any difference in speed!

Running 3 GTX 480s is better than running 2 5970s
due to the dual GPU in the 5970 I'm not impressed by the card. It is the same thing as running 2 4870s. while as GTX 480 is 1 GPU. and in q4:2010 the 495s are going to come out and eat what ever ATI has.

im not so sure we'll get a 495, the 480 uses way more power and produces way more heat than the 5870, so making a dual 480 would be really hard. maybe a dual 475 whenever they make a 475 (like the gtx 295, which was 2x 275).

@lysaer1 last Nvidia driver did for Crysis Warhead 13% more performance, for Left for Dead up to 30% Performance at Single card, and with SLI up to 28% more Performance at Left for Dead, this are just few games of alot more, but like i told, go at Nvidia, search some drivers, am whatever lets say search for GTX 285 and then u will see what changed, but like i sayd, Nvidia users knows that :)

Nvidia rules, fastest single GPU card. It's not about the fastest single SLOT card, it's about the fastest single GPU card. Dual GPU single slot cards suck. They microstutter. I hate microstutter. I love Nvidia for making fast single GPU cards.

@lysaer1 Maybe it isn't about that in this test, maybe this test is all about the fastest card regardless of it having 1 or 2 GPU's, but for me it's about what's functional and what not. I've had a GTX295 and hated it for stuttering & bad support in games. I'd rather have a graphics card that's both fast and gives smooth graphics. That's what a fast single GPU card gives you. My allergion for stutter and tearing has made me buy a 120Hz. TFT too. Now I never have to use Vsync anymore.

@KingHaggis i can't say i've had any microstutter issues since the 9800 gx2 days, of which i have 3 laying here, currently i have 3 480's in my rig and not got a problem with sli microstutter, prior to them i had 3 5870's and again no microstutter.
tearing will still occur regardless of single or multi gpu cards, that's based on the monitor and card not whether you are running multi gpu or not. obviously having a 120hz screen means you can sync @ 120fps as opposed to 60

@lysaer1 Tearing will indeed occur regardless of single or dual GPU card but microstutter only has to do with bad scaling of dual GPU cards or SLI setups. I was just pointing out how much I care for fluidity in games. I didn't mean to say tearing comes with a dual GPU card. Tearing will improve with a 120Hz TFT and that's why I bought it and because I did notice microstutter on my GTX295 card I bought me a GTX280. The fastest single GPU card back then. Much better. Now I'm gonna buy a GTX480 :-)
