  • omg!! serious!!! i cant believe that i seen now!! lol i never forget abt i was live with my parents 's big house i remember bat in our old house omg long story shyt!! i am happy u make it !! bat get out of ur home lol ughhhh

  • This is great.

This would be a great way for students of sign, who need to practice could do so without the "cheat sheet" of a transcript.

    An everyday discussion in sign.

    Kewl!

  • Wow, It really scared me. I will yell when a bat to me. I will wild out of control Lolz... You good to strong and take bat went out the window...

  • it got me laughing with your story! A bat came into my son's room during the night. My son, who was a teenager at that time, woke me up from the deep sleep. As you can imagine, it was an exciting night! lol We managed to scoot it out of the house somehow.

  • LOL! That's a scary experience for sure! I'd be scared shit too! Whoa! Thanks for sharing :)

  • [last part] My dog decided to make it a pet too! She bit it and the bat could no longer fly! So who is the real threat? WE are. The bats arent the offensive types!

  • I took it and gently encouraged it to walk on my hand. It was there making sonic sounds to figure out who I was. (mouth opening several times) I did pet it, and it was really friendly. I had absolutely no problem with it. I knew I had to let it go since there's not enough bugs in my room to feed it, so I eventually left it outside. The story ended well... UNTIL! (see next comment)

  • My God! Why is everyone freaking out of this? I had a bat in my bedroom once... And Ironically it was sleeping in the cave section of my paper made world... I was thrilled to have a bat in my bedroom... It was often coming close to my bed... Since I was scared at all.. The bat did not feel threatened by me... (see next comment)

  • WOW! it is excellent story..!

  • You are beautiful by the way.

    Amazing eyes.

  • Wow, (this is Hannah M. from RSD0 anyways, wow, are you seriously? This is scary thing. I was panic for short time and now wow cant say no more

  • Cool! I had never seen a bat before this. Also, it's good to know that it's possible to call 911 using VRS. I've heard of it but never met anyone that had that experience. Thanks for sharing!

  • that was funny. sleep with garlic!

  • Better call Deaf Van Helsing to take care it! LOL

  • lmao! Or called Deaf Alcurd from Hellsing ;p

  • Thank you for sharing with me in your story. Wow, You are survived so lucky! By the way, My name is Michelle from Ohio. Nice meeting you. God bless you. :)

  • This was a really fun video to watch. I am in school to become a Deaf Ed teacher and am still practicing my ASL skills. I loved watching your video. It was very clear and it was really good.

That seemed like it would have been really scary. The bat was cute though. Thanks for posting--very cool!

  • Wow, that's pretty scary to have a bat in your room!!! I would get paranoid! lol! I live on the mountains and we have wild animals out here. So, It gets pretty scary for me to come out of my car at night. That was pretty brave of you! Thanks for the tips! Great video w/ a humor! :)

  • wow that story was intense... thank you for sharing!

it's ridiculous that people keep commenting saying you need to put subtitles up. your story was well told and subtitles aren't necessary.

and thank you for your activism!

  • Seriously, why no subtitles?

  • Didn't it occur to you that there are many videos online not made accessible to the Deaf and that there are many for hearing people like you? Heck, not even CNN who has more economic opportunities to afford subtitling. Why don't you ask them that question? Pick on the multimillionaire companies, will ya?

  • Well it doesn't help you move on with Deaf Progressivism when most of the people that would need to be informed have no clue what you are saying. Although I admit I'm only really guessing the scope of these videos. Also I think most TVs have a subtitle function. I seem to remember turning it on and then hating it a while back. Anyway, I'm only questioning why you aren't doing something you would get more understanding from.

  • Just that I have been bombarded with this question over and over and I am getting tired of it. Not only that it is time consuming to do the subtitles but it is a daunting task to translate.

It is not a win win situation if you want to blog just to simply share your thoughts to a specific audience, in my case to the signers, when the signing impaired complain not having the ability to understand what was said. These signers dislikes to view with subtitles and the others dislikes without.

  • So to resolve the situation, I just include my transcripts for the most of my vlogs that I feel I wanted the signing impaired to know. This is just one of my vlogs that I do for fun.

  • I am going to have nightmares from this. Great story tho.

  • Oh my! Thanks for sharing your story. I had the similiar incident with the bat. It happened outdoor during board daylight. About 12 years ago, I was riding on a bike on a bike trial when a bat came from no where hit right in my face. It was a hard hit. I almost lost the control of my bike. It was a good thing it didn't bit me.

  • Aww that was such a little batsie, I wonder if s/he was a baby. So cute! But creepy to have in your bedroom!

  • Omg! you make me scared i was ran away lol

  • You should have let the bat drink your blood lol.

shit.. def the adrenaline rush!!! wow man, thats real something!

  • if bats agian in ur house let me know. i will tell u more

  • Whew... I hope you didn't develope a paranoid about the bat. To tell you the truth, being bit by a bat is one in a million even with a rabid bat. I am sure you did some researches on the bat. To tell you the truth, I found the bat can be our ally in the nature. To let you know that I just watched your vlog and enjoying every bit of it.

  • Hi...I watched ur vlog and i find it very fasicnating to watch u telling ur story about the bat. When u said that u saw something fuzzy above ur bedroom window and showed the picture and took a look, i had a goosebumps! I was like "Oh sh--!", this is something u dont see everyday in the bedroom. If it was me, I would have to call the animal control because i have a phobia of poisonous animals such as snakes, bats, etc u know what I'm mean? I would flip if it flys in my room LOL! Glad ur safe. =)

  • I always enjoy watching your vlogs! You sign beautifully and express yourself so well! Keep up the good work! We need these personal experiences and views - and we need them in ASL!

That happened to me when I was house sitting not that long ago, except the bat was in the living room! Even the cat (oscar) wouldnt go near it! lol.

Keep on the good work! :-D

  • OH MY GOD!! that is sooo freaky... I would have called 911 and demand the police to come... lol

  • what's she sayin??

  • wow!! that was so exciting. that bat you kicked out might come back for a winter. that would be fun. the question is are you prepareing well for another bat surprise? it is a good thing you are not hurted. very brave!!

  • hey, i have a question, i want to go to college to become an interpreter, right now i know alot of signs, my problem is fingerspelling, i was wondering if there are any tricks to learn how to get faster, i was told to where gloves and practice, but just wondering if you have any tricks except to just practice practice practice. thanks

  • It is an advantage for you to know signs but I hope it is in ASL since I have seen some hearing people who learn manually coded English signs struggle to learn ASL. About fingerspelling, there are games that you can play by purchasing on line.

  • Practice may be the key but it is always best to interact with Deafies who use lexicalized signs where you can internalize the whole fsp word as a whole. For example, B (hold) -N (move downward)-K (hold). Some fsp words don't require spelling letter by letter and that is what you need to know by reading Linguistics of ASL by Valli and Lucas.

  • B-N-K means BANK by the way...also I would recommend to start with 3 letter words if you have a friend who can practice with you then go from there like building blocks.

  • thanks and yes i know the asl version rather than the coded English, my mom is graduation college and getting her B.S. in interpreting in May 08 so she is helping me alot. i just wanted to know from another interpreters point of view. and i was able to catch some of what you said in your blog. i'm gettin' better and better at this, it's very easy for me to learn signs so i'll be totally ready when i decide to go to college. lol thanks again

  • Other trick you can do is....read lips! It is always helpful!

  • yeah it was very scary!! I recalled when I was babysitting two codas in their house many years ago. I saw a batfrom their attic. I panicked but I made a call to my dad counting to ten and then telling dad that there was a BAT here. He understood my speech and came quickly with a broom. He hit the bat flying wild and it fell. He hit it and put in the trash. Their big alaskian dog ate it that night. Threw up only the bat bones! The teacher I babysitted for, told the story to my math class!

  • I am glad you didn't kill the bat. You are so funny in the raincoat, but it is an excellent idea. Bats are very good for eating unwanted bugs such as mosquitoes that may carry West Nile virus.

  • wow!!! im so glad everything is okay with you... this is amazing!!!!

  • You were lucky to be able to use VRS to call 911 in this particular situation where you were not in a life-or-death situation and able to communicate well. What if you were having a heart attack and not be able to communicate well? VRS will not be able to read your address well and take much more time to locate your local 911 center. To date, the best and safest way is to keep TTY which will take less than one second to reach your local 911 center.

    Sonny

  • Actually I learned that when a 911 call is made through VRS but no response is made afterwards, the operator is able to track the IP address that will lead the emergency team to locate the victim's home address..

  • I'm not sure I'd trust that. Every VRS service I've seen suggests keeping the TTY because it's faster for 911. And on Sorenson's webpage they say you'll have to give your address if you call.

    Love your bat story! :)

  • FYI, the world's largest colony of 2-3 million bats is under the Congress bridge near the TSD in Austin, TX. To date, not one person has been bitten by a single bat!

    Sonny

  • I was fascinated by your signing, and your expresions, but I wish you could have put in some closed captioning (lol) for those of us who can't sign. I caught it was something with ears, and what looked like rain and a rainbow. Got the gist of it from your comments. Cool though!

  • true as nice as bats are they are a risk an can couase death...as avbria says thanks for shaeing this so others know cos you can never be to safe or shore i love bats but i know they can cos porblems an have there own risks to them thanks again great vblog dorm

  • its juss a lil bat wats da big deal aint like it gon kill u or nun

  • Wow you are ignorant here..check out the scotsman dot com news: RABID vampire bats killed 23 people and bit more than 1,000 when they attacked residents in their homes at night, officials in Brazil confirmed yesterday.

You can't assume it is harmless!

  • It is all depending on what kinds of bats. There are a lot of different kinds and not all are would attack human. It is rare in US to have bat attacking human. Try not to lump all bats together as a dangerous creature because many bats in US are our beneficial ally as insect control compared.

  • Wow! how scary! I am glad you got it out.

  • Wow, your vlog is scarier than a horror movie.

  • Hahahaha I can not believe you made it with a heavy sigh of relief! The reason I laughed so harder was because you looked completely scared and nervous. I was not supposed to do that, but I really appreciated your video clip. I mean you did a great job!

  • Wow theres my brave aunt! smile. im glad the bat got away then you can feel relieved :)

  • In summer, I felt an insect buzzing over me in the dark as I lay in bed. I brushed it away (felt nothing) but it kept coming back. I finaly got up, turned on the light and found that bat's brother! Scary! I didn't have a rain coat. The cat killedjumped up and it for me. YEAH CAT!!

  • Wow. Excellent story you got there and bit scary! I'm not afraid of bats but if it fly around my face I'd freak out. Don't like flying stuff! HAHA Wow... awesome editing and watching you in your raincoat got me laughing my butt off! Very entertaining! Thank you!

  • Next time bring a Salad Thong. By the way your VLog are much better than National Geographic Show!!

  • What is it like to be a bat? By Thomas Nagel google it.

  • you are braver than me!

  • COOL! I like this story and really love bats that do not bother me. If I were you, I will be calm and try to put bat in cage and bring it outside and let bat be freedom!

  • oh my gosh, i cant belive that!

  • Wow it is very interesting story on your videoblog It is best one .. lol lol .. I am so glad that you felt so relieved ~~ then you will feel much relaxing tonite :)

  • ha ha ya not only one man when we were living in waterloo ind, Our bedroom window sometimes left open for us to access to the patio up second floor one day we found a strange creature like you say and we learned its a BAT.
