  • Check out Brian Crain's Piano and Violin Duet on iTunes.

  • This reminds me of Tom & Jerry

  • Wow---- Awesome description. The headless one and the invisible woman. Marvelous

  • Her playing (Valentina) is phenomenal! I'm under the impression she plays musical pieces as they were intended, in other words true to the vision of the composers intention of how it should be played. I'm definitely going to catch one of her performances when she's in my area!

  • @thep51dliberated7 While searching through many many many videos I stumbled on this about 2 years ago or so, and fell in love with it! I still return on a regular basis to hear her play. There is full version around, can't remember where it is though. But I agree with you 110% she really does every piece she plays justice!

Escapism at it's finest in her music!

  • my favorite pianist playing one of my favorite pieces. I won't ever be able to play it like this :/

  • @punkviolin1 You are not alone :(

  • BRAVO!!!

  • amo tu entrega en cada pieza que tocas...

  • I love this woman...

  • Tom and Jerry brought me here :-)

  • @Schuanny Me too

  • I can play the whole song.

  • Qué bien toca

  • WHOA WHOA THERE LADY. YOU DONT JUST INTERRUPT SOMEONE IN THE MIDDLE OF PLAYING!!!!!

  • OMg at the end :O

  • Kinda ruth to interrupt Valentina Lisitsa during performing dont you think ?

I mean, i myself would be picking up my jaw from the floor

  • NIce playing! Esti romanca ?

  • Was there really a violin solo? I'm confused.

  • @Mintcubes Yes, two notes at the very end of the video. It was beautiful.

  • Sincerly Amazing Violin Solo Nice Play I Really Adore It

  • Wheres the Violin Solo or is the first commentar about to joke ?

  • I nearly died with astonishment, until I saw the end and I eventually died with laughter...

  • Nice performance, but i think you need some new jeans! :-)

  • Wow, that was great...

  • I remember this song in Tom and Jerry cartoons. Fabulous!

  • i don't get it... i listen to jung lin again and again, and i still don't understand why everybody says she's the best... i don't care she's asian, i find her interpretation clear but just clear.

  • yes the piano sounds a little wet/loose in terms of tuning....usually a good one remains in tune

  • Great playing, but couldn't someone tune this bad sounding NY Steinway before the recording?

  • Could you imagine having that sort of talent? Incredible.

  • Could you imagine having that sort of talent? Incredible.

  • It amazes me how all the pieces you play are perfect.

  • You should have ignored the violin solo and played on... Do you have the whole version? (Without the solo...) =P

  • perfeito

    simplesmente

    a melhor!!!

  • Needless to say Hilary wil get a slap if i ever meet her for stopping Valentina half way through! lol

    Only joking, I'm a lover not a fighter :D

  • I come back to this over and over again! Love the style and computer accuracy (still an emotional demonstration) she demonstrates! All those years of drills and teaching the fingers to do something un-natural combined with her obvious natural talent have made quite a phenomenal Pianist!!

  • It would be good to see your face for some if not all of the performance. It's good to see the focus and the passion on a musicians face.

  • Do you have a video of you playing the complete piano solo of the 2nd Hungarian Rhapsody (Lassan and Friska)?

  • My fave version of this song...:)

  • piano and violin? sounds like an orchestra....

  • Valentina Lisitsa>Jung Lin... by far.....

    sonds like an orchestra...

  • @MrSlimilS Jung Lin's HR2 is by far the best, IMO even better than those by Rach and Moiseiwitsch - and those three are surreal performances by extraordinary musicians :-))

  • 4:35 is magic

  • Why every time I listen to this video Miss Hilary interrupts with the violin?.

  • no puedo parar de escucharte...

  • Comment removed

  • i like her version more than any other,it's softer and got more feeling

  • loooool invisible hilary hahn XD

  • A little to much personality in the performance :)) but it was nice aniway

  • Lol look at the keys moving again :)

  • Bravo!!! Excellent and so "light" hands... very well done.

  • amazing :) i dont really have much to say about your performances because they aways amaze me ! i think this piano is due for tuning though!

  • always remember this from a film about 1943 called "Latin quarter". the people relaxing in the town square and an exciting dance ensued. pity this was cut short

  • hello.. piano experts.. question..

that music in the video is part of Liszt piano concertos 1 and 2 ?

  • Comment removed

  • @Vann7 none, its a rhapsody and it has nothing to do with the concertos

  • that woman inspires me sooo much....

  • I love her, but she ain't got shit on Tom.

  • perfect.....absolutely

  • I LOVE HER JEANNNSSS!!!! hehehehe..... i have never seen her so 'casual' before.... ^^

  • Its funny how I can almost memorize the whole piece because of Tom and Jerry.

  • Very fast!! Good work, violin is a lil low though.

  • You are the best!!!!

  • You are amazing!!! thank you! so beautiful..

  • Рванные джинсы+ Рапсодия Листа=мадам без годовы,но играет совсем даже нечего.Так держать!

  • ur hands are so light..love it

  • 5:05 is the best part

  • I adore you and your performance, too. I can't find words....simply it is fantastic. You became my favourite no1. But it is a pitty that your face can't be seen. :(

  • what happened at the end? I couldn't wait for the finale!

  • the violin solo blew me away

  • @JesseFormosa wo ist die violine ?

  • westside öcsém ...

  • Extraordinary!

  • This is wonderful, such an amazing performance of a classic from Liszt! Also, I had a good laugh at the description and ending with the violin. Thanks so much for sharing this! :D

  • i hope i could be like her someday

  • @Quietkiller1000 No. But you are entitled to your delusion. I repeat you are entitled to your delusions.

  • estoy verdaderamente impresionado...!!! que gran interpretación

  • To Miss Valentina: please when I was little girl they have me play this. My hands could hardly handle the octave work. If only maestra would have been able to let me hear you play this... it makes my breath shallow, it makes me smile, i am awed by your fingers. Such technique - very very good. I laugh with you very much! Thank you!

  • Honestly, this is the best interpretation of HR2 ever I have seen thousands of people have been trying but this is guaranteed the best, most original and purest interpretation at all, perhaps, since Franz Liszt

  • Lov u Hilary Hahn!!! jajaja

    OMG Valentina is sooo amazing

  • That one crazy chinese dude who played on Bocellis Romanza tour freakin ROCKED this song. best version ever

  • Increible interpretacion!!!!! me encanta!!!!!

  • Full version here:

    watch?v=LdH1hSWGFGU

Thank you Valentina... from the deepest of my heart.

  • I love watching your hands and fingers move across the keyboard. It's so fluid and smooth, just as if it was absolutely easy to do so.

  • Valentina, I bet all I have that if you make a full version, no one will compare it with anybody's.

  • This looks so much better than all those suited serious perfomers. ;p Just a jean, a random pull... AND skills. ;D

  • brilliant!

  • The world is much a better place now that we got the complete version of this magnificent piece !! :-) Valentina is amazing!

  • Valentina shows us a better version plz... :)

  • @pedrolindoguerreiro From Vals' twitter

" Finally! There is a decen version of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 . Thank youM ichael ! Great job!!!! "

    *****youtube.com/watch?v=LdH1hSWGFGU

  • Superbe, génial, Wonderful.

    You're a great piano player...

  • I got to see her perform this live! :)

  • great...great....great....

  • GREAT...GREAT....GREAT......

  • better performance ever ! jung li and lang lang can go back to school

  • @abrasax08 You say the funniest things :) This is not a "performance", it's the first half of the HR2, the lassan. Listen to Valentina's full peformance, it's on youtube.

Why do people dislike LL so much? Hard to understand that.

It's Jung LIN and her performance is sublime, no other pianist has ever played it better :)

  • @abrasax08 Her name is Jung LIN and her HR2 is extraordinary. The interpretations by Jung Lin, Rach and Moiseiwitsch are the greatest ever, they have immense musicality and artistry :-))

There are huge differences in interpretation: Valentina is great but she plays every piece to the proscribed tempo and dynamics. To be fair, this is only the Lassan, should listen to her full HR2. Lang Lang doesn't belong in the same discussion and he plays a different work, the Liszt-Horowitz:-))

  • isint this no.3?

  • @Vesivian no.

  • one of very few pieces by Liszt that I like. very well done.

  • 5:30 RAAAAAAAGTIME.

  • Can I marry you? *_* there are no words that are a compliment to you, wonderful and too good.

  • @gianni232323 hahaha, great ; d

  • а СНГ молчит ...

  • This has always been for ever by far my very favorite piece of music.

You play it like so perfectly and I want to thank you and congratulate you for this

master piece. It takes me to heaven.

If it wouldnt be to much to ask, could you post a full version without the violin.

Id love to see you play all of it.

    Brava!

  • I find Adam Gyorgy's playing to be quite similar to Valentina, his interpretation sounds a lot like hers

  • Headless Lisitsa Fox - you are a genius!!!

  • Nice hair

  • your technique is simply incredible

a beautiful sound with graceful, movements and completely controlled sound

  • I've just started to get into classical music and I've got to say the raw emotion and passion I feel from players like you just make me love it more every second. I could and have listend to these pieces for houres. On a lighter note, this piece was also used in a favourite bugs bunny cartoon. Little known fact there :) thanks for posting these. Keep up the amazing work xxx

  • @scroobiuswib1 not to be a jerk, but this is technically romantic music, not classical. unless you meant classic as opposed to jazz or rock, etc.

  • @aznminr123 ok calm down like I said I'm just getting into this kind of music. I call myself a lamen as hannibal lector would say. So yes I like 'romantic' music like this and all the music that valentina plays :)

  • This HR2 is the best ive ever heard ...by FAR

    Thank you Valentina

  • simplemente.... Hermoso!

    Gracias

  • I just tried to play the keys on my laptop while watching this at the same rate she played the piano and couldnt do it. And I wasn't actually hitting anything specific.... she was....

Complimenti davvero, brava virtuosa :)

  • Reading testimonies from Liszt's contemporaries describes his unrivalled skill, the feeling and clarity of his playing. I've listened to many Liszt pieces by various pianists (I even have Leslie Howard's complete Liszt) and it still strikes me how beautifully and precisely you play. It seems a class up, as Liszt would have been, even from incredible pianists like Howard. I defy anyone to find someone who plays the terrifying opening passages of Totentanz with more fire and precision than you :)

  • thank you!!!!!:)

  • where the hell is the violin?!!!!!

  • And some people say piano isnt a Extreme sport?? XD

  • Val...Thank you for posting this piano session. Love watching you perform. I hope that someone else trying to say this isn't as good as Jungs' concert footage of the whole piece (no violin Cadenza LOL) doesn't discourage you from posting more of these.

  • @gr8tlsnr You are funny mate, and good too see gallantry for a change :)

    V. Lisitsa is clearly a beautiful lady who performs very beautifully. I am afraid I'm going gallant too, in that Jung Lin is also a beautiful lady who plays very very beautifully :)

  • @gr8tlsnr Lisitsa is a great great pianist. Jung Lin is pure magic :) Don't freak out, just my opinion.

  • For an example of the depth and clarity I am referring to in Lisitsa's version: Compare Lisitsa's version at 5:09 with Jung's version at 5:35. Lisitsa, in my opinion, pays better attention to a transitional change in tempo shortly after that point. She (Lisitsa) makes one FEEL the song has a new beginning and to get up and start to dance. Jung's version pays little if any attention to that transition and seem just to put focus on the faster tempo after that.

  • @gr8tlsnr Never said that, "fake" is your word! I said THIS video isn't a real performance, just practice for her. For you to suggest otherwise is an insult to all intelligent people. In my two years on YT I have always said Valentina is a great pianist.

Jung Lin's HR2 is extraordinary, she's the pianist I now listen to, as well as Rachmaninoff, Gilels, Horowitz, Richter and Benno M. I also like some performances by Weissenberg, Ashkenazy, Kissin, Argerich, Bronfman and Cziffra :-)

  • Comment removed

  • @gr8tlsnr Please stop arguing.

  • @Bret6464 Please, stop arguing :(

  • @gr8tlsnr Jung Lin's version is perfect. I put her peformance right next to Cziffra's, both are perfect Liszt.

  • @DimitarRM Sigh, For future reference, there is someone who reads these posts who already knows I'm not a piano expert. That persons name is: Valentina Lisitsa. She was very kind to correct me, by email, on something I wrote. Given that.... Who are you trying to impress DimitarRM by directing that comment to me? Oh… that was a rhetorical question and I will not reply to any more messages you direct toward me.

  • @DimitarRM jung lin misses a lot of notes

  • @bfeyalcin In fact Jung Lin does not "miss a lot of notes" LOL

IMO Jung's performance is extraordinary :-)

  • @DimitarRM Jung Lin's play is far from the perfect she made lot of mistakes and wipes. György Cziffra is one of the best and Miss Valentina play the composition as emphaty as Cziffra. But this is my subjectiv opinion.

  • @nemethgabor60 The fact is Jung Lin does NOT make any mistakes. It is one thing for you to say you don't like her interpretation, but to say she "made lot of mistakes" is bs, mi dispiace amico :-)

In my opinion, Jung Lin's HR2 is extraordinary, she does do justice to Liszt and plays with as much musicality and passion as Cziffra did, and her technique is as good as anyone. Although my all time favorites are Rach's and Jung's HR2, Cziffra's performances, all of them, are surreal :-))

  • @DimitarRM Jung Lin's version may technically be perfect, that is probably true. But I can't hear as much emotion and passion in it as I can in this version (not saying she doesn't impress me, quite the opposite). I like to be stunned by technical virtuosity. But further more I like to be moved by emotion. Perfection for me is, if it both comes together. Each to his own. :)

  • @Seleuce I said Jung Lin's version is perfect because she does invoke emotion to the utmost. Cziffra did that and she also does that. Yes her technique is perfect but that's only a vehicle for her to bring out all the emotions in the piece, it's extremely Cziffraesque. :)

  • @DimitarRM We really seem to hear these interpretations very differently I guess. I miss temperament and passion in Jung Lins way to play it, not enough emotions at all for me. It is rather a cool, distanced strength of an ice princess in it rather than fire. She is no way close to Cziffra for me, his interpretation was unusual and totally unpredictable. With Lin nothing new comes up I feel. Anyway she is not a bad artist, I don't want to bash her. Just not my taste. :)

  • @Seleuce Guess we do hear different things. There is a live Cziffra performance of the HR2, listen to how he plays the Friska, then listen to Jung Lin's Friska. Same passion and emotion, impossible fast tempo, little pedal use, crystal clarity. Lin's HR2 is perfect, to me. :)

  • köszönöm szepen!!

  • please do a complete version of this

  • Marry me! <3

  • Loved the video description hahaha

  • It's a long shot but judging from this rendition, I get the impression that she was born to play Lizt.

  • 1:04 - 1:09... wowwww

  • Perfect.

I LOVE your playing, if you'll ever play in Slovenia or anywhere near, I'll sure come! :)

Liszt is one of my favorites and you can really play it. So, for me it's a perfect combination, you and Liszt. :)

  • valentina is the best on the word !

  • whyyyyyyyyyy hilary whyyyyyyy

i mean, i love you, you are a great violinist, but whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  • The piano sounds phenomenal!

  • brilliant

  • the violin at the end was cute *w*

  • Hilary Hahn is a great violinist...

... but I can't help hating her right now as she interrupted this wonderful performance! Valentina, please, redo this rhapsody. PLEASE. You play it so well that words cant describe it!!

  • Look. At. Those. Hands.

    Wow

  • Shifting keyboard at 5:30 -- effortless! Sounds like she's dancing...

  • Valentina .... You look good in jeans :).

  • Marry me?

  • How can she make it sound so flowy and fluent? I try but it's hard, especially for this song! Might have to do with the type of pianos I've been through...

  • increible!

  • Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....keeeeeepppp playing.....

WolfieTed , you are apsolutely 100000% right....she is perfect......I heard Lang , Jung Lin and others , but nothing comparing to her performance.....wow ......

I like Maxim version , but not like her's...

  • She is what every pianolover has been waiting for.

  • Watched this one, and then the Lang Lang one... liked this one much better than his. More subtlety and clarity, and most importantly, no horrible muddy bass banging noises. :6

  • WoW! Tom & Jerry! :D I don't know this is a Liszt rhapsody

  • Comment removed

  • Valentina did a good job of this Rhapsody but Volodos delivers the true Gypsy sound.

  • @skimask777 totally aggree
