To all negative jack asses he is not referring to the wrong caliber, he was saying that the Whitney wolverine is ammo brand sensitive it might fire standard vel 22 s fine but jams on cci stingers or does feed subsonics etc. you guys sound like your typical know it all gun idiots that really don't know crap. Iseems like there's one at every match I go to .
I put a 9 round clip of federal (several years old) through mine without a jam (see video response). you have to take apart the clip and clean/lube it to keep the feeder moving smoothly. the slider in the clip is aluminum so it sticks and drags sometimes. Whenever mine jammed, a little bump on the base of the grip with my free hand will chamber the round no problem. My biggest issue was the primers not going off on the old ammo lol
@thexder42x What ammo do you suggest I try in it? I have tried CCI Standard Vel, CCI MiniMag, Federal bulk, Federal match, Remington bulk and Remington Golden Bullet High Velocity.
The willful ignorance displayed in that comment just flat astounds me... a trial and error process might have been "part of the fun" twenty or thirty years ago, but the issues with the Wolverine's feed is well documented, as are the types and brands of ammunition that work best in older models of the pistol. It's all just a mouse-click or five away, and yet you insist on using the wrong ammo for the pistol and posting it for the world to see.
Furthermore, the pistol jamming is pretty much the best outcome in the situation you present. YOU NEVER, EVER KNOWINGLY PUT THE WRONG AMMO INTO A FIREARM. That is elementary firearm safety. With shooting practices like yours, it's only a matter of time before you put the wrong ammunition into a gun, and it results in a catastrophe. Maybe it'll take losing a hand, or worse, before the point is driven home... I'd hate to see it, but maybe that's what it will take.
@thexder42x Okay, I know about putting wrong ammo in a firearm. What I was refferring to was the wrong brand that this particular handgun might favor. Tell me the risk I posed by using Federal over CCI vs maybe Aquila. What are the loading differences in the major brands of 22 long rifle ammo, other than sub-sonic, standard velocity or high velocity. I have tried six brands of ammo for this particular pistol and have yet found the right ammo for it. I am looking for a new magazine for it.
@thexder42x Considering I never shot it and most 22's are ammo sensitive it was a pretty good chance I would have the wrong ammo for it. Many times you need to try different brands to find round that works right in them, but that is the some of the fun in shooting.

My dad gave me that pistol and told me he never had any luck in shooting it.

@rednoseroxy Agreed. the guy firing the Wolverine is a bleeding idiot.
"I'm gonna shoot the wrong ammo and laugh when it jams! Herp derp!"
Fecking moron.

It's absolutely the ammo. I have an original and the Oly copy. Both do the same thing, but run flawlessly with MiniMags, Lightenings, and T-22's.

HellboundTrain, what ammo did you use in your old Whitney?
GardandGuns 1 year ago
Mine worked like a champ, never a hic-up. Hated the sights though, still have an Oly Arms one and I like the sights on it.
