Adding to my comment. The section starting at 2:47, it would have been so nice if he would have expanded on that melody a little bit.. it sounds as it was the entrance to some magical universal place. Great effect.

this peace of the soundtrack is just superb and I see that everyone listening to this piece have the same reaction as I did. Fantastic of a composer to be able to get that type of reaction. Crystal sense of melody.... it reminds me of the genius of Lyle Mays, but on his own merit.

try Marc Isham...he did the soundtrack for Crash. and try some ambience artists, like Amethystium or Mythos (their song 'Icarus' is GREAT). I don't really know much else like this, but if you hear of any, please post.

Try Cliff Martinez, he did a great Soundtrack for the movie Solaris(2002)! One of the best tracks is First Sleep!

Sure thing! K-Pax and Solaris have some of the best soundtracks out there! YOu might want to try The Fountain(2006) as well, that movie has a decent soundtrack as well!
