I clicked onto this video and Johnette's voice and music put me in a Trance while i listened. I came to a few moments after it was over, all i can say is... WOW !
I miss music like this! They never got the credit they deserved, definitely underrated!! I love listening to their albums and I can only hope to see them live again someday!!
who remembers a time when singers didn't need auto-tune? i certainly do. i think as music fans, we should be DEMANDING people with actual talent and substance be put in the forefront...you know, how it used to be before the advent of Music Television. it's bands like this that make me realise that most music these days is complete and utter shite
This is one of the best songs ever recorded - it has a nice melody and rhythm to it and you just can't beat Johnette's vocals - she's such an awesome singer!
are all woman connected. I have heard those words my whole life.. but I love your song Johnette. I wish I could run into a woman that can sing like you
i actually heard this before Joey in 1992... then Joey in '93. I was taping 1 song, & this song ran right after the other one i originally taped, but i didn't stop the tape for some reason, like i usually did for songs i didn't know ;-) I was aggravated that i couldn't sing along to the high part without going into head voice for many years until more recently when my voice finally started maturing. I saw her play last year & she still sounds & looks amazing!!!!
@barbiigawnbad They were once THE LA band...when you listened to them you could smell the smog the traffic and the tension...what the hell went wrong?
Johnette Napolitano --- the Best, Unique and Most Gifted Singer Ever. I love her! And she is soooo cute... her skin is sooo soft... I love her joy, her hair, her face. Her face changes always better. Chameleon. Angel. DELICIOUS! Johnette is a MIRACLE, pure magic! I never heard a song so soft, light, positive, as "paradise is home". That's heaven!
Concrete Blonde, one of the most underrated and overlooked bands of all time, amazing talent, Johnette and Jim....I could go on and on writing about them....
Why do the greatest bands have to be SO under-rated and so under-appreciated? Simple: the Industrial "Music" SHITSTEM is ruled by PERVERT PSICHOPATICS who only want sell ROTTEN UGLY SHIT FAKES such as Madonna and Gaga and they want made us all a bunch of billions of MOROMS with NO sense of good taste for so good things and REAL TALENTED ARTISTS such as Concrete Blonde, Public Image, Bolshoi, Alphaville, Irene Cara, Sinead O'Connor, Kim Carnes, Sandra, Laura Branigan, Randy Bush, Suzi Quatro...
Love this song. Forgot all about it until I came across a mixed CD I made up a few years ago of some of my favorite songs by solo women or lead singers. Two of the songs were Joey and Someday.
yeah saw them a bit back, probably my favorite show I've ever seen, and I just saw Alice in Chains who are also great, but Concrete Blonde won easily, Jim Mankeys an amazing guitar player, his finger picking unbelievable, shame no one gives him any credit. Johnette's great, and looked gorgous back then. I have no idea why it never really happened for them despite having excellent songs, a good look, and great technical chops.
God, I have every single 1 of their albums and they all kick ass. Johnette Napolitano, you are one bad ass woman and base player. Keep rockin' cause I love everything Concrete Blonde does!!! :-)
I always wondered why they weren't bigger stars than they were. Cool, accessible songs, an amazing frontwoman - they just seemed to be destined for amazing things.
Watching this brings me back to the summer of 1992. Good times. Johnette has one of the strongest voices to ever come out of the alternative genre and I love the bittersweet yet empowering feelings this song's lyrics and music evoke. I actually play this tape in my car, it's a good album, but I bought it for this song mainly. Still sounds really crisp.
For anyone that has ever tried to sing this song (including armchair karaoke!), try to hit the notes, it's nothing less than impossible ! unless of course you are a professional singer. Her voice is amazing !
back in the 90s... when you didn't have to be an early tweeny-pop female singer to make good music :-P This was actually the 1st song i heard of theirs in 1992. I can't wait to see them on Saturday again!!!! 2002 is too long ago....
This song is beautiful, as most of there songs are . It's as if Johnette and this music were a natural match made in Heaven. When I need some uplifting tunes CB does it better than any other band. Thanks Johnette!!!!!!!!
@screaminogre "Almost 55 I'm playing my bass I'm living life" Saw her In Columbus June 11 and she looked like she was 30! She is an angel in disguise I'm telling you!
I started buying all their CDs because they always sounded terrific. As I've gotten older each song has taken on special meaning. To me, this song emphasizes our tendency to "get around" to the important things in life -- such as family and friends -- "someday" when we've grown weary of the hussel and bussel of making our fortunes. In that sense, it hits the same chord as Cats in the Cradle.
This song actually helped me introduce CB to someone in my life who passed away. And when I hear this song, it helps me remember her and the time we spent together. Thank you Johnette!!
Well, I would have to agree that this is really not a good video, but it is, by far, not their worst. IDK what it is, they tend to have horrible videos, but their music is great. I think True and Joey are really good, but the rest I've seen are just... not good.
I did receive a rough cut digital tape of work in progress and we are still in touch. The big buz was that such a major artist bought my self made CD.
Wow, all three of us must have been separated at birth. Michael Steele was my favorite Bangle, and Johnette Napolitano is both hot and reminds me of Steele. lol
Concrete Blonde is the greatest! Johnette's voice and songwriting are amazing. Listen to the cover version of Little Wing on the Still in Hollywood greatest hits collection - why isn't Jim Mankey considered one of the best guitarists in rock music? A friend got to meet and interview Johnette once - I'm jealous!
@fmotp I really like his guitar tone here, vid shows him playing a Les Paul, but you can't go by what you see in a video, of course. Sounds like a Gretsch in a way, but it could even be a Tele in the middle position. If he did get that beautiful twang out of a Les Paul, God bless him!
I clicked onto this video and Johnette's voice and music put me in a Trance while i listened. I came to a few moments after it was over, all i can say is... WOW !
