This computer can't play games that have +6GB, it just play the game without lag in 40 seconds and lag in 40 seconds. I have 2 games that have +6GB: Unreal Tournament 3 and Prototype. I really miss playing them without lag. T_T

Once you disable Aero, tweak your startup menu, and update all your drivers (provided your system isn't too old or gimpy), Vista runs fine. On this system you want a 64Bit OS anyway.

That said, once Windows 7 comes out, both Vista and XP will be things of the past. XP in general is faster than Vista but Win7 is reputed to be fast as well, but not only that, have support for DX10 and other user-benefitting features.

I use XP on my main rig now but I plan to go with Win 7 in the future.

i got the vaio fw series, i paid about $600 more but got much better quality than hp. the screen has a much higher resolution and is also much brighter with better colors, it is vuilt alot better with high end materials, has a better cpu, dedicated ati video card, upgradable to 8 gigs or ram, solid state drive, and blue ray. and not to mention blue tooth.

sony is right next to apple in the computer industry, you just cant compare an hp to the quality of sony and apple computers.

The 3200 may sound weak, but in reality it will play most games at a good framerate. I have the 3200 on board my motherboard, i could play San Andreas maxed out at 1680x1050 with AA cranked up getting 40-50fps. Didn't have any more demanding games at the time.

The Turion X2 is actually a fine processor. What do you expect from a machine at thi price, you're not going to get a freakin' Core 2 Extreme *sigh*

Don't presume that, as the 3200 is on board, it is incapable of some gaming.

At 1280x800 you don't need that much power. As i said in my other comment, San Andreas 1680x1050 max draw distance, max AA, Very High Q etc. 40fps avg. ;)

Hell, this mofo would play crysis at 1280x800 on Low for 30fps avg. :)

I'm not suggesting it should be labed as a gaming laptop, just to show it is capable of light gaming ;)

As far as I know, 7200RPM is today's standard. Yes, any speed can be considered slow compared to something else, but compared to 7200/10kRPM drives, it is slow. I noticed quite a bit of difference going from my 7200RPM drive with 8MB of cache to my 10kRPM with 32MB of cache.

As for CPU cache, you may be right, I don't know much about the relationship between cache and speed.
