An intense human experience with my bro Christmas 2011. His condition upset me so much at first I could not stop crying. I rallied and the nurse helped and he looked at me in awe, then chuckled at my stories. He is critical in ICU but tried to sit up when i told him I love him, that his siblings need him to survive, that he needs a better life narrative in honor to our Mom. I told him that I was happy to be good enough company for him and us this Christmas 2011.

I remember being at an event in college where all the Christian fellowships got on stage and sang this together. At the time, I was in a mostly white group. Most of my group stayed towards the back together, but I was "pushed" up front to mix in with everyone. Looking back, that was a prophetic act because now I'm part of a multi-cultural, multi-racial church and I know the meaning of this song in a totally awesome way. I love my church family of all races and I need them to survive!
