That was the whole point.The contrast between something happy and sad.It creates more tension.They do it in allot of films.It's very clever in my opinion.An excellent piece of cinematography.

when i watched this on tv a min ago i was getting a bit carried away playing me guitar as i was watching this realised i was playing something quite nice absent mindedly looked down as she said you'll get slaughtered saw what i was doing like ahh i see look up and shes on the floor was like ....did i just miss the bit where his mum dies..?
This song and scene really touched me. I can imagine the real Lennon.
