@pixaman56 there is no question that the amount of control on the freebords are ions higher than on a traditional longboard. I live in San Francisco, and trying to tackle most of the hills with the traffic, road conditions, pedestrians... etc... is next to impossible; there are actually very few places it is safe. With these freebords the possibilities are expanded 10fold. These are a must for places like San Francisco, Switzerland, or the hills of Los Angeles.

the truth is as follows.... longboards like any skateboard were created to emulate the feel of a surfboard, which don't spend much of time going sidways, infact you have to build up speed to carve a surfboard like a longboard. freebords are trying to emulate snowboards which have a greater turning degree in any speed, fast or slow and can easily transition from switch to regular. two different vehicles for two different sports with sperate but similiar techniques. arrive at similiar conclusions

Seems to me like these are only really useable when going downhill. Would really cut down on versatility of the board if that's the case - only going downhill is fine for a ski hill but isn't terribly practical on streets. Seems a little pointless if I need another board just to get to a hill so I can use this.

@caligo641 They are just for going downhill. The aim isn't to replicate a skateboard, it's to replicate a snowboard in a way that wouldn't require lift tickets, mountain trips, gas money, etc. You can't ride a snowboard from place to place either.

I like skateboards largely BECAUSE they don't have a lot of the inconvenient limitations snowboards do. Not sure how the trucks are constructed but you'd think they'd be able to make the center wheels detachable, SOMEthing that would allow me to reach a good slope without needing another board just to get there. As-is it looks like a ton of fun but too much of a one-trick pony for my liking.
