Your vast knowledge of race engine technology does not seem to include the material phenolic composites, of which almost all mfld & carb spacers have been made for oh........ maybe 30 years.
@torquemaster3000 Try an engine worth 80 grand. and as was said before that is a phenolic plate. Been using them for decades in the aerospace industry. It is lightweight, heat resistant and non corrosive. It can be machined, rivited, bolted or glued. Good stuff.
@mxr73 Thanks. I also forgot to mention, phenolic is very good heat insulator. One of the reasons for its use is keeping the carburetors cool. This help in keeping the fuel cool, resulting in a denser fuel/air mix...i.e. more horsepower. In our oval track engines, we have seen as much as 15 hp increase by using a 2" phenolic spacer between the carb and the manifold. The ram effect, larger plenum area and cooler temps combine to add a decent amount of power.
NHRA Pro Stock engines are making 1425 HP.......at 500c i........Just saying...?

Nice, but too much for my needs. I wonder, do they do heads for other applications as well?
