Pathetic old bags trying to relive the 60's. Let me guess, now that Obozo is president, the old bags aren't protesting anymore....even though the wars are still going on and he's starting a new one with Libya.
Look,I don't like to see elderly women sent to jail, but the fact is they broke the law, were fairly warned and then arrested! If they were protesting at your property, you would demand the same, and don't say that you would not, simply because they are grandmothers!A simple question would be to ask them how their children voted in the 04' election,we all know that it was a Bush majority, and likely so would the answers given.Perhaps even of a few of these grandmas!Lets get real people!BUSH in 2012!
WOW there moms must be real proud of them. What a bunch of cowards. arresting those ladies. we should start arranging sit ins all around the world. Many blessings of peace, love and light to all. even thoughs PIGS that arrests them. i guess they dont care about there Karma. oxxo
1st amendment......the right to peaceably assemble and petition for redress!!!!! the largest group of armed people in history vvont take this for very long! i pray i live to see the evil get vvhats comin to them!
@treon123456 their right to protest ends when the recruiters rights to operate are infringed. these women were trespassing and unwelcome at the office, therefore they were asked to leave. they couldve simply gone across the street and continued their protest without any interference but noooo they had to make a scene
@420991 ...FUCK YOU FACIST COCKROACH....FK U AND YOU IRON FIST LITTLE DICK OVERCOMPENSATING PUSSY COPS FRIENDS RIGHT UP YOUR POWER TRIPIN ASSES! ppPppPpPpPPtH!!!!!!! THE TIMES COMIN WHEN WHEN BADGE PUSSIES LIKE YOU ARE GONNA BURY YOUR UNIFORMS AND 'SHIELDS' AND SWEAR YOU WERE NEVER THE FREEDOM KILLIN ROBO SCUM YOU ARE.....SISSY PUSS!
@Airportris umm, you need to brush up on your laws. yes they did. they failed to obey a lawful order to disperse and were trespassing on private property.
@420991 lol a lawful order? what law says you cant protest? private property? did the owner of the property ask them to leave? you dont have to obey any orders from police, all acts and statutes are only applicable to those who consent, so go ahead keep consenting to facism and keep thinking you know the law
@Airportris you can protest all you want, on public property. that shopping plaza is privately owned. the recruiters asked for them to leave, so there fore if they refuse to leave they are violating a law and subject to police action, when police ask them to leave and they refuse they are then disobeying a lawful order and subject to arrest. simple concept
@420991 the recruiters dont own the property, they have no lawful right to ask anyone to leave. and no its not a simple concept because laws are only applicable to those who consent, these people are concenting but there rights stilll being violated,
@Airportris youre right. the recruiters dont own the property, but the are the ones on the lease, therefore they retain the property rights, and they reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone they damn well please. these women were unwelcome and were asked to leave, they refused and were subsequently arrested for trespassing. If you dont like our laws, then you dont have to live here
@420991 this is obviously a plaza and there is multiple units leased so there for they would all have to agree to have the people removed and file a formal written complaint. and all written law is not applicable once it violates the rights of the constitution. the police cannot charge anyone with trespassing without written form from the property owner, not the lease holder. once you give your consent all written law applies
Most likely Criminal trespass. The officers had no choice, these ladies were on private property and the property owner called police. They were asked to leave and refused. The property owner has rights too and is entitled to police protection. All the ladies had to do is get a permit to protest and they could demonstrate on city property all they want.
i just wanna know what they think they are accomplishing by getting arrested like this. absolutely nothing. the cops are goin to pick them up and go on to the next call. pointless
The cut off age to enlist in the Army is 42 and I am sure they were all aware of this- They just wanted to get some attention and arrested to "further" their cause. If you want to enlist do it while you meet the requirements - and dont go into the Army - Join the Marines!
Hmmm, they didnt get arrested for protesting did they? It was for trespassing. All they had to do was take the protest a foot or so ahead and they could have carried on...The laws the law, no matter how old you are.
you are brave warriors...hoooahh OIF 06-07, pirates for life arrrrrrgghhhs
atleast someone thinks this war is a total bullcrap that can be smelled miles away...why the fuck people just close their eyes to this illegal war? why?
The problem was the private property issue. If they went across the street to CITY HALL EAST, (The buildings steps are visible when the APD officer is talking about private property) They could have raised hell within earshot and vision of the army recruiting site, being city property, owned by the public, I think they would have been able to keep going without getting removed. The APD would have simply placed an officer there to watch them.
I'm surprized these women weren't beaten down by the police, handcuffed, then tasered too. If they aren't being filmed, Homoland Insecurity trained police in the USA today invariably elect to use violence, intimidation, physical injury and even murder to satisfy their lust for power and control over other human beings. The US economic collapse & martial law coming fall 2008 ought to shake things up a bit.
I suggest this gem from the 60's protest genre. "Suppose they gave a war and no one came?" Why do people continue to join the military? Are they illiterate or blinded by false patriotism? Do they notice that we are still in Afghanistan guarding an oil pipeline and Bin Laden has been out of the news for 3 years? Do they notice that our military is based only in the small section of Iraq that involves oil production, while the rest of Iraq is void of ANY US troops and is rampant with civil war?
That was very good, I espesially liked the old woman almost getting into the wrong prisson van and having to be redirected! Well done for following through with your convictions.

They say that when you are in public space all the time. I had similar experience in front of my city hall. I said 'no you are wrong this is public.' The security could not argue once I showed them I knew the truth. The city property is MINE and the public side walk is the GRANNIES :)
Public Speech is based on Time, Place, and Manner Restrictions. The speech must be on a public space, and some communities are permitted to require permits for demonstrations, or protests. Examples of public spaces: Sidewalks, Post office, Court, City Streets, Schools, and Meeting Halls. The speech is required to not infringe with the business on the premises. It appeared that the lady's where on private property, such as a shopping complex, which is not a public place.
In conclusion you where most likely on public property, so you where right, but those cops are not stupid. They knew the law and the situation, and trust me they were not arresting them for fun! This sort of action can and obviously did bring a negative attention to the police department. This brings the chief or whoever permitted the arrests under intense scrutiny from the press and concerned citizens. If they where on the sidewalk in front of the complex they wouldn't have been arrested.
Well unfortunately the grandmothers refused to leave private property. They do have a 1st amendment right to free speech, as long as it is on public property. They should have just moved to the front of the business complex, they where given many chances to move by obviously calm caring officers. The officers gave them every opportunity to move, they just chose to stay and get arrested for the cause. By the way if they cant afford an attorney a public defender will be appointed free of charge.
