when i get the HD collection, DMC2 is the game i will be playing first, then DMC3, that game had the best story and music and the dante and vergil scenes define the series

DMC 2 was a great, i can tell the artists relied heavily on abstract art as the enemies and environment had a twisted, creepy feel and this was the first DMC to have a big gothic, underworld look to it. DMC 2's combat, movement and devil trigger were the best in the series bar none.

While i will admit i would have liked to hear more one liners out of Dante, he was TRULY fearless in this game, leaping off of sky high buildings and had a quiet confidence about him, he was the epitome of badass

@darklordmephisto15 you are soo right, i get pissed at how people shit on this game so much and big up 4. i personally found that while dantes parts were great (when he was the main focus) he seemed out of place in the new atmosphere that game created, thats what i dislike the most about 4, the enviroments while they look nice don't remind me of a DMC game at all more like Final fantasy and to me thats just shit because DMC 1,2,3 all had dark gothic brooding settings 4 was just too fantasy.

devil may cry 4 is a bad game by default. any game series that was around before xbox 360 and ps3, well the moment they go onto EITHER of those systems, is the moment ALL OF IT GOES DOWN THE DRAIN AND WILL FOREVER BE SHITTY (disregarding the pre xbox360 and ps3 ones of the series) proof is Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4, i think Tekken whatever it is now but im not for sure on that one cuz i havent played the new one yet, Soul Calibur 4 big time on that one, some other games i cant think of.

@CountAbel The two things i'll agree on is bad level design and atmosphere. The forest setting and overall brightness does not fit in a DMC game. The levels themselves were fine, just that you literally had to do them again in reverse which made me hate them lol. Everything else is good though imo

The order actually goes:

3rd-When they were young & Vergil got possessed by Mundus(secret ending)

1st-When Dante fights vergil and all(still getting his butt beat) and in end killing Vergil & Mundus

4th-Where all the bad guys(Santus) try to use Yamoto(Vergil's old sword)

2nd-Somehow Dante ends up in hell literally somehow someway and he goes through all that crap

Yes i Agree, it is because DMC2 was made by a different team at Capcom, and with it, the original Capcom team was pissed off at the new one, but in Dmc 3, i think they got right on track, thats what others say :)

I remember reading somewhere that the game was placed in the hands of staff responsible for Capcom vs SNK 2 and though they made a particularly good fighter... they should've stuck with that. I also remember reading that DMC2 was built primarily on the feedback from players on the first game's gameplay. That said... now that it's here it can't be erased. Like you said though at least their right on track now.
