  • Can some one tell me what songs they play in the video plz?

  • Comment removed

  • Sometimes I feel so jealous and envious of Metallica...I mean, imagine if YOU were the one responsible for creating thrash metal, that you were inspired by NWOBHM and created that awesome sound...I mean, I can totally feel what they must have felt when they wrote their music

  • I'm a proud SF bay area native! I live in the south-east bay, but damn do I wish I grew up in the 80s for this shit!!

  • Then, it was true metal vs. glam posers

Now, it's true metal vs. metalcore/deathcore posers

  • I really wish I was in the bay area in the 80's.

  • @97Grimsta i respect your opinion and all and i dont like emo music either but u cant ever blame someone for singing about their feelings. i mean i do find it arrogant how most whine about stupid shit and they dont think that theres always someone in the world whos got it worst than them but at the same time i give props to them cus they arent singing about all politics and stuff they dont know about. singing from the heart is better because you know more about yourself than anything else.

  • does anyone know the song during "the road part' the acoustic song?

  • fuck yeah! i want to thrash now! thrash til death!

  • Omg Blind Illusion reference? Thats the group where Ler met Les, OMG Metal boner just splooged all over myself...

  • I fucking hate the other kids my age they listen to their stupid gay poser emo music, which tries to act metal but it's not, they're just a bunch of pussies who whine about they're feelings. I say up yours to that shit. Metallica, slayer, megadeth, anthrax, exodus, testament, overkill, possessed, dark angel. I even started my own thrash band. :D

  • @97Grimsta i started a band to i think ever metal kid should make a band make some songs perform locally and get this shit pumping again fuck anything else..except for jazz and blues those get a lot of credit haha

  • @97Grimsta lucky bastard. No one in ohio seems to like thrash :P haha

  • @shnakeaneggs yeah, there's a good thrash metal scene in L.A, and lots of good bands too

  • to me thrash metal is a mix of punk rock and heavy metal..........THRASH METAL BABY!

  • @tommW13 punk rock ? ur a fucking tard

  • @FuckinMetal3694..your the fucking tard,if you haven't noticed in the vid you can see influences of punk rock and hardcore punk.if you did your research metallica have said that the misfits are a major to them and they are horror punk and have even coverd die die my darling of them, they have also said they are influenced by sex pistols and ramones.Although they are heavily influenced by new wave of British heavy metal you can't ignore the fact that you can hear the punkness in there music.

  • and this doesn't just apply to metallica, most thrash bands are influenced by similar bands and music that metallica listened to.listen to your ears more and get your facts right.

  • Nobody gives half a flying rat's ass about your age. You're a poser just like the people you hate. Shut the fuck up and watch the video kid.

  • Legacy is pre-testament, and Possessed is the best fucking thrash/death band idiots.

    youtube. com/watch?v=dV7VNgT_hAc

    Happy moshing!

  • A fantastic documentary, I really enjoyed watching it, but I really miss the fact in there that it was actually Venom that created thrash & not Metallica.

sure all the american bands took it from Metallica, which explains why they respectfully crown Metallica as the 1st thrash, but Metallica really took the mix of punk & heavy metal (thrash) from V.E.N.O.M.! I'd thought every kid knows that. well, at least here in Europe, guess in America Metallica is always the highest commandment.

  • Before San Francisco was gay.

  • I need to know the song after kirk talks

I think Nuclear Assault did it

  • Yeah uhh... what is that song at 0:23 ...?

  • @Sasori2395 I FOUND OUT!!! THE SONG AFTER KIRK TALKS IS WORLD OF ANGUISH BY OSMIUM!!!

  • I gotta know what the song is at 0:22

    Slayer,Exodus,and Possessed for 5 buck!!!!!!

  • @3HDXRKO dude Suicidal Tendencies was from Venice. They were crossover.

  • can anybody tell me the song that play at the begining of the video? :D

  • MAN! I need a time machine to go back into the 80's!

  • I'm 16 born and raised in San Francisco home of thrash, i really wish i lived back then going to live shows seeing thrash bands that lived here. I just can't stand looking at all these poser kids at school thinking they're so cool listening to lil wayne, MCR, or some other shitty mainstream band

  • @Burtonianz i know fuck them

  • Whats the song at 0:22?

  • what song is at 1:37?

  • song at 0:22??

  • SONG AT 0:22??

  • the bay area scene is still great today better than it was during the 90's haha

  • @3HDXRKO Incorrect.

  • @3HDXRKO please stfu poser which thrasher doesnt like exodus? dumbfuck

  • @MrPureDeathMetal Probably just some kid just trying to mess with people to irritate people.

  • @3HDXRKO Never seen such a fucking Dumb ass comment. Metal Up Your Ass, Go Die.

  • god I know that if I lived back then I woulda fuckin been up there dude that was one of the many great things about the 80s. 80s metal is way too defined by the sunset strip and while I like some of the bands that came outta the bay area thrash scene was way cooler and much more down to earth.

  • 2:58 Am I the only one who's been waiting for Kirk to come out of the closet for years and years? I mean, I'm cool with it either way, but I definitely wouldn't be surprised to say the least.

  • What's the song at 0:22

  • @Sasori2395 did u ever find out that song cuz i rly wanna kno to

  • @Jmaster677 No, I never found out.

  • please excuse my ignorace but what song is that on 1:10??

  • oh and nu metal, glam metal, and emo metal shouldnt exist their a god damn discrace to the rest of us(Lamb of God lyric)

  • Dude I wished i could have lived back then 2. I get so jealous cuz my dad has seen like all these bands and now Metal is just now hanging on to society cuz of these gay ass emo scene kids are running around here. Thats why we MetalHeads have to stick together. The only band thats keeping us alive now is Lamb of God and i know that there are other bands but they just dont have the impact and image to stay around for a long time. Satan bless all the MetalHeads well pull through this drought .

  • What about Exodus,Testament,Heathen,Forbidden,?? Those are bayarea bands

  • That's so cool to know that Bay Area Thrash bands hung out, a real symbolism of the heavy metal brotherhood, and how close all of us metalheads are with each other.

  • What's the song at 1:40? Would like the list of songs they play at a given time between the interviews and whatnot.

  • will anybody ever post the GERMAN scene? I kno it was part of this doc and imo, it was a very important scene that spawned two more extreme metal genres: black metal and death metal.

  • @godofmetal712 You mean the Teutonic thrash metal scene that's been well-documented and revered?

  • Revered by it's fans as every genre is.

  • @Sasori2395 If you're a thrash metal head, you'll know what the Teutonic thrash metal scene is, but that's besides the point, metal rules!!!

  • @xXNeoShredderXx I like the American thrash better than European. I read somewhere that most of Teutonic thrash was European.

  • @Sasori2395 ..........All of Teutonic thrash metal is European. It originated in Germany.

  • @xXNeoShredderXx Oh Okay. I've heard some of it and I don't really like it that much. I haven't listened to it in a while though and I'm getting kind of bored of American thrash... Any suggestions as to what songs of Teutonic I should listen to?

  • @Sasori2395 Anything by Sodom and Kreator. Listen to Betrayer by Kreator and Agent Orange by Sodom, then start from there. Believe me, the albums from which those songs are from are fucking awesome, you should get those too, "Agent Orange" and "Extreme Aggression" are classics in general. \m/

  • dude u should listen to the m-16 album by sodom its awsome or u can listen to some other stuff from kreator's exterme agression

  • What is that song at 1:32!! Fucking heavy!!

  • yeah!!! fuckin' bay area!!!!

  • thrash on kid!

  • thrash is the best ever im 13 and i wish i could of lived back then and see thrash when slayer metallica megadeth testament metal church overkill anthrax but i have to deal with all these gay scene emo kids man they suck

  • @jeffdangerousxtreme Dude same here

  • @jeffdangerousxtreme oo man your 13 i want my son to be just like you hell yea more kids need to be like you man stay metal

  • @jeffdangerousxtreme feel with ya ..live in denmark am like the only dude at my age liking this music! all listen to gay pop and emo music...hate ehm all...

  • @titsisgood Jeg er også fra Danmark! :D

  • @jeffdangerousxtreme Yeh man. I dont give a fuck about those scene kids, they can do what they want it dont bother me. But its when they keep calling themselves 'metal' and their gay bands 'metal', a genre that gods like Priest, Maiden, Overkill, Megadeth made what it is. But now the name is being taken in vain by these posers who think that emo hair, eye liner and fucking crab shit (wateva the fuck they do) is metal.

  • @jeffdangerousxtreme who cares if youre 13?

  • @jeffdangerousxtreme me too man

  • @jeffdangerousxtreme

i wish more kids would be like you.my nephew is 13.and hes a gay emo fag.im ashamed of it.

    haha.

  • @jeffdangerousxtreme Im The Same Age And I totally Fuckin Agree!!!

  • yeah we still have the most kickass thrash bands in the world

except gama bomb their from ireland and they tear shit up

  • Big Four Fun Fact:

    Slayer - From Los Angeles

    Metallica - From Los Angeles

    Megadeth - From Los Angeles

    Anthrax - New York

Yah, the Gay Bay Rules...I guess

  • Mistake

    Slayer is from Orange County

  • No Mistake. Slayer is From Huntington Park, California. Los Angeles County, (not Huntington Beach Orange County) right outside of Los Angeles City Limits.

  • hell yeah!

    bay area represent!!!!

  • whats the song at 1:10

  • lake of fire by Ulysses Siren

  • wrong.

  • Awesome. The genesis of the thrash scene. For the love of...METAL!!!!!

  • wats the song at 0:24?

  • daaamn that is sooo tight, I hella wish I was 17 in 81' in Sanfransisco. oh man that would've been so crazy. I think the thrash scene would have been more exctiing than the Tampa scene. I hate this generation of metal is really really sux! its so horrible.. there are some cool new thrash bands but they're not AS good the original kings!

  • hell ya it would be sick

  • what song at 1:32?

  • Bay Area ROCKS! (Except for all the fags).

  • You know there are gay metalheads, right?

  • thrash til death

3 words to live life by

  • stop at 0:19 to give Kirk a funny face

  • what songs are playing?

  • Fuckin' Bay Area Thrash Scene!!!

Vio-lence. Exodus, Testament (Legacy), Heathen, Lääz Rockit, Possessed, Death Angel, Forbidden, Blind Ilusion...

  • who is this guy with this maniac smile on 0:24 ?

  • lol it's Gary Holt

  • Looks like Kirk Hammett.

  • @JohannesLG12203

    its kirk !

btw anyone knows the song at 0:23?

  • @nairolf35

    It's definatly not kirk

  • What's the song at 1:09?

  • many musicians out of the bay area thrash scene have asian, native american or armenian heritage reflecting the bay area's population and i see racist pricks today who think anyone with those backgrounds cant be metal. hahah what a load of ignorace! i love the bay area thrash scene!

  • Dude venom and motörhead aren't even thrash metal.

  • I think the point they're trying to put across is that the likes of Venom and Motorhead paved the way for Thrash.

Listen to the Motorhead song Overkill. That's proto-thrash if ever I did hear it.

  • Overkill fucking knocked me on my ass.

It made me want to out and buy metal records.

No matter how many times Lemmy says they weren't metal, they were way too important to the scene to not call them that.

  • also side note that song at 25

    oh god who is that

sounds like higher quality early testament

  • Why the fuck would they know???

  • Wat song is it at 1:32

  • Thrash was born in the San Francisco Bay Area! Makes me proud to live here! Exodus is from here, they formed a year before Metallica!

  • thrash was born with diamondhead, venom, motorhead, and raven. dumn fuck :)

  • I fucking hate god.

cuse i wasnt born around 1965. FUCK!!!

  • Yeah me too...

  • Ask your fucking parents

  • whats the song at 1:10?

  • how is the song called at 0:23 ?

  • i don't think it's song by an actual band. i think it's just part of the soundtrack

  • BAY AREA THRASH JUST KICK NUTS !!

  • I wish I had been born at LEAST 15 years earlier than I actually was, so I could experience this bad-ass scene first-hand! That doesn't change the fact that I'm a huge fan of Bay Area Thrash, but still...I would've just LOVED to intimidate those glammies and all other posers, and get smashed at Ruthie's Inn, and all that shit!

  • the guy on the right at 0:28 is paul baloff. a thrash metal legend. died in 2002 RIP.

    learn your thrash...

  • the driving force of the thrash movement. original lead singer of exodus, kicked out coz he was too fuckign thrash for exodus n everyone else too

  • it's like asking who is jesus christ

  • do you have extra stuff ?

  • what is that song in the beggining after kirk is done talking i think its exodus plz tell me thanks

  • whats the song at the begining called?

  • there's some guy that made some of the soundtrack to the movie and i think it's one of his songs

  • damn, sounds so heavy

  • no, it started in LA bands like exodus and slayer remained loyal to the city

  • no wrong it started in san fransisco. exodus was the first thrash band

  • wrong. overkill.

  • overkill started out as a punk band called the lubricunts and then went on to play a power metal sort of style that they called "blood metal" it wasn't before they heard bands like anthrax and metallica that they began playing faster. you can hear the difference between their demo "power in black" and feel the fire, check out the song "the answer" from their EP, pure power metal style. so yeah, exodus was the first thrash band.

  • i consder The Beast Within a thrash song. it sounds a lot like their stuff from Feel The Fire in my opinion. your mileage may differ though.
