the replicators reminds me of the borg... at this they were all strange, mysterious, fearsome and terrible! the would fill one with thoughts of horror and unavoidable doom but then over the series they were made more "human" and all the fear and dread went out of them... star trek ruined their borg and stargate ruined their replicators.

People call the Asurans replicators - I think that's just a shorthand by the Pegasus Galaxy expedition in-verse. The Asurans and the Milky Way Replicators have two totally different origins. The Asurans were created for war against the Wraith, the Milky Way Replicators were sentinel drones created by an childish AI android as playthings and protectors, which went rogue. The Asurans are also more limited than the Milky Way Replicators.
