Ladies such as Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Barbara Mandrell have held the title of Queen at some point or another, but Reba has held that title for over 2 decades now. She will continue to hold onto that title until some other lady comes along who is as great, talented, giving, and humble as she is, and who is not afraid to break down barriers for future country acts.

A lot of people lump Reba in with some of the lesser , newer country talents but that's not really fair . She can really sing ! I have her Oklahoma Girl cd ( actually have at least 10 ) and there are tracks where she can really sing the blues as well as country- equally well.She's pretty versatile and stays pretty true to her roots. New fan of Connie SMith and she is one of the best I ever heard -ever !

Great tribute to a great man by two great ladies. BTW: The Queen Of Country Music is Kitty Wells, not Reba. The King of Country Music is Roy Acuff. They were given those titles about 40 years ago.

Kitty and Roy who? LOL I suppose the king of England is still Henry the Eigth too. Once a performer ceases to perform the crown passes to the next in line. George Strait is the current King and Reba the current Queen as both are still recording and performing at the top of their game.

Did you get your information directly from the CMA ? I don't agree with you OR the fact that Roy & Kitty were chosen for the titles. There are others much more deserving of them. Personally, I think the fans should choose, as they did for their favorites at the Music City News awards years ago. I don't think the industry execs should choose as it is currently done. If I had my way, the awards would go to either Marty Robbins & Patsy Cline, or Eddy Arnold & Connie Smith

Yes Kitty IS the Queen, Reba herself has said that, but the title has been passed down, and Reba is the Reigning Queen of Country Music, a title she has also accepted gracefully. We al know she deserves it, no one else is even comparable to her.

I Agree!! Having heard many of the new kids on the block I'm wondering what exactly is country about these girls songs. Put them beside Dolly, Lorretta or Reba and they just sound like any modern pop singer. It's the delivery that makes me think country not the actual song. This was never clearer than when Reba redid Kellys BOY, both versions were lovely but Rebas delivery added a depth the pop version didn't have.

But to settle the above argument, Loretta Lynn has always been known as the Queen of County Music. Once her biggest fan, but Reba holds that title for me. A Nashville girl ought to know!

Reba owes a debt to Connie Smith! Connie Smith set the standard (next to Patsy Cline) that will never be equalled among female vocalists. They're great together and I wish Reba would record music like this instead of the bubblegum "Pop" she sings.

Reba has always praised those who paved the way for her. Sad fact is that "country" doesn't sell well, Reba does include more traditional songs on her cds but they are rarely released as singles. "I'm gonna take that mountain" wasn't pop, it also wasn't a no1 hit. Reba has many songs that aren't pop but country radio loves pop. The Duets cd has some great country songs on it, not one pop tune in the bunch.

maybe if people like kid rock, hootie, jewell, bon jovi would stay in pop or rock music country singers could sing traditional country music. there is nothing wrong with reba's choice of music. if you are a true reba fan you would know that all her songs have meaning to her and come from the heart. she is also the best story teller on the radio today! reba doesn't owe anything to anyone. she has thanked those woman more often than not. she remembers those before her.

She hasn't been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame yet, no. She has, however, been inducted into the Radio Broadcasting Hall of Fame. She's still selling millions of records and competing with today's supposed country females, so I think it'll happen once her career actually winds down, which, hopefully, is never!!

She may be the best selling female country artist because she had her foundations in Country Music but her music is NOT country and there is no difference between her and the other artists of today that don't really sing country. There used to be....if you listen to her recordings when she began until 1987 she was as country as ducks sitting on a window sill. Then she sold out and compromised to do bubblegum pop. Long live Reba the QUEEN of Bubblegum!!

She was ONCE but she sold out and this video is a beautiful reminder of what she was once and what Connie smith still is! Reba...take some lessons from Kitty Wells...the undisputed queen of country music!!
