might be a tad extreme but this is my favorite part of any Cosby Show ever. I <3 Nancy Wilson and Phylicia Rashad, but mostly I love the slow dancing.
Wow the way Nancy sings, 'Anything baby just let me get next to yewew"... (wow the way she says you'.. is so dang sensuous! That woman has a way with phrasing that is unmatched. just wow.
One of my absolute favorite Cosby Show episodes! I still have almost all of the seasons on VHS from when I used to tape them every week. This one is classic! Gotta love Nancy Wilson. I had a hankering for this version and knew that I would be able to find it on youtube! Thanks!
I was just watching this on TV like 10mins ago, and I finally found out who this song was made by after so long of not knowing, but now I do because the show; Thanks Mr. Cosby!! :)
Well, no one is prouder than me to have my cousin, Phylicia Rashad, whom I grew up with, sing with the incomparable Nancy Wilson (and keep up, mind you).
No one but a few know that Clair Huxtable "was" Phylicia Rashad, as she really is.
And when we were climbing trees as kids, she was the one on the highest branch...fearless.
Whatever happened to show like this? Why can't just laugh without having raunchy jokes? I grew up watching this, and I wish someone could make a show in it's spirit.
Man I miss this. The Cosby Show was a master at incorporating great music into the show. I still get goosebumps when I see this episode. Nancy Wilson and Phylicia Rashad joining Bill Cosby and Moses Gunn in singing "Moody's Mood For Love". Priceless!
I remember seeing Nancy on TV variety shows in the 60's when I was maybe five years old. I completely forgot about her, and didn't even recognize her when I first saw this episode of Cosby more than twenty years later. She put instant chills on me then and still can now. Gladys Knight is the only other female singer that stops me in my tracks like that.
James Moody, Eddie Jefferson and King Pleasure all got it started, and it's AWESOME that their efforts are still appreciated and celebrated by today's contemporary artists. Take 6 with Brian McKnight and Patti Austin, George Benson and Patti Austin, Amy Winehouse, Elliot Amin and several other talented folks on YouTube have kept the classic alive. Thanks to you all!!!
I have that Moody's Mood LP. This is such a fantastic clip. Nancy Wilson and Phylicia Rashad .. two beautiful and classy ladies. I tell you, that Bill Cosby really knows his music. He had all the good stuff.
I just bought a James Moody cd with all the instrumental songs that later the lyrics were written for. 'James Moody 49 & 50. This great musician is also a part of that iconic group of Jazz musicians; Dizzy, Bird, Monk Miles etc.
I Love this eposide of The Cosby Show...... I would do anything to Meet Phylica Rashad. i been crazy bout that lady since 4th grade i'm currently a sophmore in college. She is really my rolemodel. I love U phylica
and thank you for remembering the great ones and allowing us peons to glimpse into a world of the amazing and talented great kings and queens of legends
The first time I heard this song was on this episode. I fell in love with it and this song is still one of my favorites. Nobody sings it like Ms. Nancy though :-)
nancy wilson is a real entertainer from the old school. I saw her live at copley center in san diego. seeing her sing guess who I saw today was something I will never forget. thanks nancy..
This is one of my FAVORITE long songs. Nancy does it VERY well and I also enjoyed the remake by Brian McKnight with Take 6 on Quincy Jone's Juke Joint CD.
Nancy Wilson is one of the most truly gifted and graceful women on this Earth. To have both she and Phylicia together in one episode was wonderful. Such elegance! If you don't know her work, you'd better get some Nancy Wilson in your repertiore...and soon!
Phylicia was an understudy in the original run of Dreamgirls, she's led the cast of Sondheim's 'Into the Woods' on Broadway, she recorded an album many many years ago, and she's occasionally sung on TV. Her voice has not gone to waste.
Nancy is amazing and flawless!!! I saw her once at a popular/dearly-departed jazz spot in Fort Worth back in 1998. That performance will stay with me the rest of my days.
Lord, I can FINALLY delete this episode from my DVR, where I kept it for years so I could watch this scene whenever I wanted. Is this isn't a "Cosby Moment," I don't know what is...and one of my all-time favorite TV memories. So charming and romantic to see adult couples together like that...and these four together singing "Moody's Mood," with Miss Wilson blowin the roof off the joint?? Oh, forget it. You better SING, Nancy!!!!!
I ♥ Nancy Wilson! She is one of my favorite female jazz vocalists. And I love the Brian McKnight rendition of this song...he should so do a full jazz album.
I am so glad you posted this. I went out and downloaded this song just because of this scene and now I can show people why I had to had this song. I love the way their family connects and this was a great episode! GREAT POST
