The flip Ultra HD is better than all of those when it comes to quality in my oppinion, but he is right low light always suck with small camcorders like that.

Kodak Zi8 is a great pocket Camera, full HD, Macro mode, external mic jack, just has more features than most of the other pocket cameras like the Flip, while still remaining cheap.

Ever since Good Guys and Circuit City went out of business, both Fry's and BestBuys have raised prices a bit or hasn't dropped prices enough. Instead of getting cheaper, they just replace the product with next years models which aren't always better. Sometimes they replace solid metal or glass parts with plastic

Get the new upgraded Sony one that looks like that. It has amazing stabilization (if thats a word haha). AMAZING camera quality (its better then smosh's camera, literally.) And it has more space inside of it. It's a little pricy. Are you willing to pay 850$? It's worth it though.

The DXG-581v is by far teh best for the money. In low light and and all environments at 50hz on PAL setting it is beautiful. Especially on a tripod for parties and events.

my hd camera was under 600 euro and has build in 60 gb so a 7+ hour film of a trip is good enought for me, the batteri might not last 7 hours but just to bring charges with me :)

@rl31954: 54 megapixel? you're dreaming. besides, what are you going to do, print billboards with it? even most of the high end SLR photo cameras are around 12.

You are certainly going to be over a grand on a camera even similar to what you're describing, it would probably be cheaper to buy a SLR and HD camcorder seperately, but would probably still put you over a grand.

The camera has pretty good quality, but it is also pretty basic. a lack of any noteworthy built-in vidio editor is a minus as well. the best thing about the camera is the price, but in my opinion, it is more worth it to save up for a Canon and buy an external mic.
