for those who don't "get it"...she is obviously in love with him...even though he thinks she isn't. She is totally confused and frustrated at his behaviour because he won't see how much she cares about him. He starts up an argument with her once again, and she gets even more aggravated. It's only when he sees that she is keeping everything he gave to her next to her in bed, that he realizes that she does care, then he calms the fuck down and goes to sleep.
I disagree. She likes him as a friend, a close friend, but it has to remain a strictly platonic relationship. Remember the scene in the bar when he tried to hold her hand and when he tried to hug her with the time machine....if the film ended with her tussling his hair, I would be in total agreement with you, but the last shot is not only of his dream, but it's stop-motion...(cont'd)
The live action scenes on the horse would be more convincing that it is possible theyll be together, but the fact that it is stop-motion shows it is not real and a fantasy. AT BEST, the ending is open ended...we dont know if they'll be together, but to me, and every time I see it, I see it as pretty obvious that what we see in the end is just his fantasy. She DOES love him, just not in the way he wants her to love him.
