  • Thank you for posting this video! Just beautiful, I want all of these cars haha!

  • It's amazing to see how pretty the Opel GT still is, even among a lot of younger and more expensive cars like Jaguars, Porsches, etc. If I look at one I always come to the conclusion that there isn't even a minor flaw in the design. A real timeless beauty!

  • @manusman9999 The only flaw if you can call it that is the motor. Rock solid its reliable and runs forever, but if only it made more HP. It would be perfect if only they gave it little V6 150-200hp... I know it was the 70's but they could have done it.

  • @potzahasee01 True, for the standards of today. Even a little hatchback produces sometimes close to 200hp. But in 1968 when the car was introduced that same engine also powered the much bigger Opel Rekord and did that quite well. The only engines with more power they had in those days were straight-six engines and they wouldn't fit in the low, aerodynamic nose of the GT.

  • @manusman9999 Oh I know about the tight nose of the GT, I am looking at putting a Mazda KLZE a 2.5l V6 in to my 71' GT. I want to bore it out to a 2.7L looking for 200rwhp, try and fix that lack of power from the factory and the noise the V6 makes its amazing :) Should be a fun car when I am done. A straight-six would be a bit heavy too and put wight over your front wheels and mess with your handling, but it could fit (if you can put a V8 in one lol) I can see why they would not put it in.

  • @potzahasee01 So you own a GT as well? I own a '69 Opel GT 1900 and it's completely stripped down. The car is now ready to go to the bodIyshop. I wonder why you don't use a GM V6 engine for your GT keepin' it a bit original if you can call it that. Opel themselves produced some of those engines from the early 90's until around '04 with several displacements stretching from 2.5L up to 3.2L. I don't know if you're familiar with these engines because I don't know where you're from.

  • Yes I do have my own GT:) Almost done with my interior, just needs new seats. I was thinking some leather C4 seats maybe? I cant wait to get mine in to the bodyshop, little dents here and there but the main problem is paint, its just falling off lol. The good news when I got mine the guy had just rebuilt it so mechanically its sound. The reason why I am not doing the S10 V6 like a lot have, is because well it don't sound good and you can build a little more HP for the same amount.

  • Plus its cheap! I can get a KLZE and a good 5speed for under $1000. Then with simple mods its not hard to make 250hp (stock is 200hp). As you know this car even with 200hp would be a blast. I am wanting to do ITB, bore it out .2L, exhaust and good tune. My guess is I will be a little over my 250hp mark but thats ok with me it will just make the car a little more fun :). Look up some Mazda KLZE or K8's and you will under stand why I want to use the motor, it really has a stunning note to it.

  • @potzahasee01 Did you ever put a V6 in your Opel? I would be worried that a 6cyl engine is too heavy and would upset the handling. I would go with a forced induction 4 cylinder.

  • @Lukeentertainment No I did not ended up putting the V6 in, but I am keeping mazda with a street ported 13b. Motors being built now so by this summer it should all be put together. As for weight with the V6, it was not that much more then the stock block. Plus if you were putting turbo stuff on it, the piping and turbos and all that would be more then the V6.
