  • Wow this production mixed with the rhymes are just crazy

  • sounds like coms on helium in the chorus lol

  • Struka like this!

  • THE BEST RAP ALBUM EVER

  • ONE OF THE BEST BEAT EVER

  • Dooinit, needs more cowbell.

  • I DEDICATE THIS SONG TO LIL WAYNE!

  • This is a great track to know that he can still get gully, and have a very knowledgeable and world view aware brother !

  • who is he dissing?

  • Comment removed

  • @40jackets Here's who he's taking shots at- and they're pretty obvious when you consider who was hot at the time:

    Verse One: DMX

    Verse Two: Puffy

    Verse Three: Ja Rule

  • @MyJunior1975 DMX? He used to break dance?

  • @spideymayne A lot of rappers that are in their late 30's/early 40's were deeply immeresed in most aspects of hip hop- not just rapping. So, DMX used to breakdance, beatbox and rap as well. Also, take into consideration his name- he named himself after a drum machine that was very prominent on early hip hop records- before the Linn Drum and MPC renedered it obsolete.

  • @MyJunior1975 DMX named himself because he does not want to use his white slave name but the inspiration was triggered by the drum machine but that is NOT the reason.

The Dark-Man-X is like Malcolm X how they don't want to use their white slave names...This is "common" knowledge lol.

  • @DBlockn05 Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

  • @MyJunior1975 , LOL wow I knew DMX was being dissed in the first verse "back to back LPs that sound the same I surround the game with pound of rain & brainstorm" (Its Dark & hell is hot & Flesh of my flesh blood of my blood) didn't know ja rule & puffy were being dissed though I thought it might have been nelly cause he supposedly dissed common in an interview when he first came out stating that he didn't wanna rap tha lyrical nerd bs stuff like common or something like that.

  • @sfknns Common was well known for throwing subliminals at other rappers. When he threw shots at Drake recently, I was hardly surprised.

If you remember, on the first song on "One Day It'll All Make Sense", Common said "It's not for the money- I coulda sampled Diana Ross a long time ago". Being that album came out in '97, it's clear who he's going at- none other than Puffy. At that time, he produced a song for Biggie and remixed a song for MC Lyte- both used Diana Ross samples.

  • rick james sample...clever as hell

  • J Dilla why you do this too em

  • Keep my shit tight like the boys in the wood

Dick is always hard like the Boyz In The Hood

OMG..I fucking love that shit. Common was great back then.

Now he's washed up. BE was his last classic Album.....

    AGREEED

  • I assume I'm the only one who actually liked Electric Circus? :/

  • @makyte your on one maaaan!!! nag champa, thelonious, pimps and hoes?? this is a c'mon man moment like espn!!!!

  • the first half of this album was sick beyond belief. then you hear the second half an it's like "what happened?" it turns into the soundtrack to the world's worst and gayest poetry reading.

  • When I bought this album in high school, I was blown away by the giant stride he took from "One Day it'll all Make Sense". I thought to myself: damn...this guy is THE FUTURE and that the radio would have no choice, but to go back to playing quality hip hop music if critical thinking heavy hitters like Common were what the people wanted. Man it's a shame. Now I lie to myself and pretend that "Electric Circus" was his last album and that this "Com-Ye" guy we have now, doesn't exist. lol

  • One person definitely missed in their attempt to turn up the volume and hit the dislike button .

  • @PbStiky One person needs to get more creative if they want attention that bad.

  • @suicideskwid One person is on their period

  • @PbStiky lol u mad

  • @suicideskwid Naw im just a dick.....so suck :)

  • @PbStiky Hahaha...ahh... good times on YT. One blood, kid.

  • @suicideskwid lol Deuces nigga!

  • Good shit ! ;]

  • does anyone know who this track is directed towards? always tried to figure it out and never could. always thought it was about puff, except the "claimed sets, your city ain't got gangs", doesn't fit that.

  • Common came out with universal mind control and now everyone wants to hate, sayin "his 'new' music sucks." damn, not EVERY song off that announcement album sucked, i mean goddamn, give him a break. This reminds me of a quote that a wise man once said, "Make a radio hit, heads criticize it; underground classic nobody buys it, so, rap is fucked and everything blowin up sounds redundant, but money talks and bullshit does not flatten the hundred." -Ras Kass, from the song "Reelishymn"

  • @robertbutler714 Dude I feel you. Thats the truth. I love the underground and old school. But I'll listen to mainstream cause its everywhere and you're a hater if you don't. I mean don't get me wrong, I know what shit is the better shit. But diversify your interests people. There's the enlightening shit and the hype shit. Once in a while you'll have a hype enlightening song, but those are for the legends and we haven't heard a new one of those in a long time. BTW Ras Kass is the shit.

  • On the real, like let's be serious for a minute... out of 46,000 people who the fuck is the 1 ruined bitch that thumbed this shit down?!

  • Whats the name of the album?

  • @byakuganboy13 Like water for chocolate - One of the best albums you'll ever hear (Y)

  • common is a real artist! true hip-hop, lil wayne is rap (& a sad case) but nigguhs dnt wana hear real music, they rather listen to lil wayne talk about how he feels like dying when is drugs run out_______________ok i guess do yall ima stick to common, lupe, nas mos def+ jill scott india arie, laryn hill, musiq soulchild+

  • @MrMrswilson10 You have spoken the absolute truth, my friend. Keep real music alive!!!

  • common is the best/////

  • There's plenty of subliminal shots on this track, and barely anybody who heard the shots even acknowledged it, the subliminals in here are dope too.

  • R.I.P. Dilla, raise it up for my dukes

  • Heavy beats , and the dopest lyrical flow in perfect harmony. THAT'S HIP HOP TO ME. Feels good.

  • A soft nigga , on a hard track

in this new rap generation i X cats like a muslim

    Common was

  • i ordered this LP back in da days, when my homiez sayd theres a premier joint on that, thats why i bought it. because premier was my hero and still ist. But later i recognized dilla aka jay dee was and is still a genius.

  • DILLA THE GOAT

  • great song

i think he's dissing DMX on the 1st verse

  • @jaxbriggs88 , nah he's dissing ja rule or maybe Nelly! I know he dissed nelly somewhere on this album.

  • it is rick james. master flip. dilla is insane!

  • used to listen to this album repeatedly bak in the day and forgot about it..just been reminded how sick this album is...peace...

  • "in a circle of faggots your name is mentioned" ... oh my. lol.

  • Rick james Sample lol dope

  • how is that rick james!?

  • the bassline Dude, you cant hear it?? "give it to me Baby" is the song

  • @DZA9mm sorry mate ive heard that rick james song and the bassline sounds nothing like it : /

  • try changing the pitch down a lil bit.. and chop it it.. its there duke..

  • well listen harder lol...it is the sample

  • exactly, that was the genius of J Dilla's talent with beats!

  • There's like a two second cut that sounds like GITMB.

  • @DJJazzyFlashBooty the bassline is interpolated from it

  • gönnste dir auch die cmts?

  • He is just speakin how to keep it real.

  • holy crap, like water for chocolate, what a LP!

used to put it on tape and a few weeks later, my walkman was broken....

  • tha piano is absolutely sick in this track man... I've heard this sooo many times but that only dawned on me recently....

  • gooooooood shit :) i love old common. new common is a wee bit upsetting. i mean its not as bad as lil wayne or soulja boy but sense dilla left us i feel commons music has taken a plunge for the worst

  • well said

  • i grew up on these songs, but know not much more. you seem to know what your talkin about think you can suggest other's like these common

    classics

  • resurrection, from a rapper's point of view, was the best album. this is more real but the lyrics and metaphors of resurrection were more on point. if rappers were judged by what they've done in the past, then common is the best. otherwise he's only up there.

  • very well said

  • i know exactly wat u mean

  • Comment removed

  • @jdillalovajake69 UMC was really the only album from him that wasn't what he was supposed to do in my opinion. Finding Forever was a classic, in my eyes.

  • @jdillalovajake69 Only Universal Mind Control is bad

  • @jdillalovajake69...I would agree with you but everything after "Be" because I loved that album.

  • @jdillalovajake69 I agree, common is watery shite as we say here in Ireland. Like Water... was his last decent album. Since Kanye he's become a bit of a self-righteous knob

  • @jdillalovajake69 not even dawg...

  • YOU, my friend, are awesome!!!

  • come on,that was an easy one

  • Who can tell me what song Dilla sampled in this song for that bass line?! I know the answer...do you!?

  • give it to me baby

    rick james

  • J Dilla....best producer in hip hop history

  • i agree...not enough good songs are on youtube.

  • whats it called man?

  • ice cube sold out, are we there yet 1 & 2, nice1 for ex-NWA

  • His new Album is bumpin......

  • this is hiphop,

  • yo common is dissin any person frontin like they hard, yet in reality they soft and so he's dissin on( wannabe's)ya'll know who i mean fakes and poser's i mean the suckers out frontin like they know whats up.

  • Who the fuck was he talkin about!!!!! i still dont know thill this day and i dont know if its cube cause their beef was well over when this album came out....

p.s. this beat is raw as fuck!!!!!!

  • that's the great thing about common. he encompasses everyone into complex lines about the industry. he was talkin about everyone that sucks.

  • "p.s. this beat is raw as fuck!!!!!! "

word! ..one of my favorite beats of dilla

  • its actually funny that people think its so raw.. its notthe first time i read that but i mean.. its one of his very first ''Cleaner beats'' lol

  • i would think a line possibly could have been directed @ WC-"in a CIRCLE OF FAGS, ur name is mentioned" hence WC and the MADD CIRCLE...just a guess my bruh.

  • that line means the 'person' is gay as in hes a pussy . its just hyperbole . he aint dissing anybody but hes dissing everyone . gotta love it .

  • I wish i knew also.

  • The beat IS killer. J Dilla was the truth... RIP to one of the greatest that ever did it.

  • actually..he was talking to Cube...the beef completely ended after this album. They met with each other shortly afterwards...Ice Cube had no response to this...and I don't blame him.

  • The beef ended in 1997, well before this album...

"Verbal vegetarian, squashed beef wit Ice Cube.." - Hungry, 1997 One Day It'll All Make Sense

  • hip hop at its best.... is this song a diss on ice cube?? a must have album..

  • I jumped for joy when I heard this beat.

  • I wonder who he ripping on when he mentioned

"In a circle of faggots, your name was mentioned."

  • Will Smith...He is talking about Will Smith Playing a homo in a movie called six degrees of seperation......

  • one of the best tracks on the LWFC album. classic album. those who haven't heard it better get their hands on it.

  • this joint is the shit!!!!!!!!!!!

  • classic! maybe my favorite jay dee beat

  • ^haha yeah exactly; dumbass NY execs... spoke too much truth for them
