  • I admire him more for stopping than the guy in the other video who also had a nasty Thomas but kept on going.

  • pacat! a decazut in ochii tuturor!

  • un gimnast extraordinar,un om de nimic,un tata de nimic :(

  • c t face sa zici asta?

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa estara en las olimpiadas verdad????

por que si es asi sera mi favorito

  • juz one question...he idin't compete in stuttgart 2007 due to injury..so ..will he get to OLYMPIC next year ? bcoz the recent wolrd championship serve as a qualifier for olympic , rite?

  • that was for the country but not for the individaul person. romania can choose who they want

  • oic...thx...means .. example , US qualified to olympic , but the members of the team might not be the same ?

  • yes

  • this guy is my hero. no questions asked

  • That was scary. Why the Thomas Salto is so difficult is that the timing has to be absolutely spot-on. A fraction of a second too late, and you land on the cervical vertebrae. You can see how he came out of the Thomas Salto was wrong. When its done right, its one of the most awesome moves in gymnastics-when its not right, well, remember Elena Mukhina?

  • You don't land on your neck (which would be your cervical vertebrae, as you put it). You land on the top of your skull or the crown, which can both compress your cervical vertebrae and cause all kinds of problems, from fractures to vertebral disc fragmentation and degeneration. AFAIK, Mukhina snapped her spine by chin-planting during a Thomas salto.

  • You can also tell as he goes into the run for his last pass that he's REALLY dazed... his eyes and head are all over the place. That's so freaking scary.

  • Why'd he stop?

Yeah, I was told 3/4 saltos are the most dangerous skills on floor and one of the most dangerous moves in gymnastics period.

  • I really think that FIG should ban 3/4 roll-out elements. Elena Mukhina passed on December and I wish she's the last victim!

  • no FIG should deffinately not ban the roll-out elements, at least for guys, it is banned on the girls side of gymnastics though.

  • y ban? train hard and master the skill..otherwise y u train so hard ? u muz be a girl ..

  • hizo un buen trabajo lastima q se equivoco al final

  • That was scary. I'm sorry for him cause he was clear favourite for that final. But it could end up much worse. elena Mukhina is my first thought yes:-( Get well Marian.

  • Ouch - poor thing. This was the kind of fall that paralyzed Elena Murkhina in 1980. Such skills are so dangerous! I am glad he was not seriously hurt.

  • I was there. You can see he landed rather unpleasant on the back of his neck after his layout 3/2 twist rollout. That's why he's rubbing that spot with his hands at the end of the video. That bothered him so much he couldn't do the last pass... so in the end, a wise decision I guess.

  • BTW, he competed on vault later that day in the event finals and almost stuck his 'Dragulescu' (one tiny step) but screwed up his second vault. So it seems the injury was minor, but I wouldn't be surprised if he woke up the next day with a sore neck...;)

  • he juz bowed and walk out ?

  • O.O That was so totally unexpected!!!

  • Did he do his dismount again?

  • It would just be 1 EG- the dismount... His SV lowers by .5 for no dismount, .3 for missing the Double Double and counting a whip instead, possibly .3 for no C dismount.... There may be more adjustments to his A score, I dunno....

  • what the heck?!? so, i guess he got 2 element groups taken away?
