Awesome video! All the food looked excellent. After seeing this video I did a little research to see if any were near our area (VA). Turns out there's a "Eggstock 2011" going on in May in the Maryland area. My fiancé and I are definitely attending, seems like a great time!
@JoeHell67 Calling me an "Egghead" is a compliment! I do really enjoy mine, it makes some great food. They are expensive but will last forever if you take care of it.
BTW I picked up a German Hefeweizen that I'll be reviewing and posting this week so stay tuned!
At 7:15 AM? No, even I don't drink that early. It was actually my wife opening a soda so we could get our caffeine fix. I did have a bloody mary at 9:00 though.
You definitely want to show up at Eggtoberfest hungry, there is so much great food. It's like the ultimate Dim Sum for BBQ lovers! Glad you enjoyed it
i remember you telling me about this festival. great idea to see you film it, and do a beer review. i have been wanting to pick this beer up for a while. people sure liked your porkloin. man i want a green egg. great review
Definitely a ton of people, 1500 or so attendees and a couple hundred cooks. I obviously love the BGE so I would say GET ONE! Stone Smoked Porter is a great beer, perfect for BBQ.
Sorry, no offense was meant. It's just that most BGE owners are very "meat intensive" so seeing that shirt was kind of funny. We eat a bunch of vegetarian meals ourselves. Actually, Boca Burgers are pretty good grilled up on the BGE!
Anyone can attend. In fact, all those BGE's you saw were probably already paid for and people picked them up after the event. That's how we got ours! Tucker is the "world headquarters" that's why it's held there. I wish it was all because of me but I'm nothing compared to some of the other owners. There are some fantastic cooks out there.
I love this video. It made me really hungry for some eggtoberfest food! Did you win with your stone smoked porter tenderloin? I didn't try yours but I would have voted for it for sure!

Hey Mark,
just diggin' into some of your older vids..
so it's not an insult to call you 'Egghead'? ;-)
Since you are kind of addicted to it and make lots of good food in it,
i started to research here...
These 'big green eggs' are available here but very, very expensive..
You 'Eggheads' sure are respected by me..
Joe from Germany

P.S.
My daughter is a vegetarian and she is far from being the village idiot.
So personally I would find the shirt offensive.

A couple of questions:
Is this event solely for bge owners or can anyone come?
Why Tucker Georgia, Is that because the best bge owner lives just minutes away?

I'm a very large fan of pork tenderloin slow-cooked in a sweet marinade (i.e. something like apple juice or even prunes included).
All that food is making me hungry.

There was someone who cooked pork loin in an apple cider based marinade and it was very good.

Beer and cooking is great ... i am a big fan of mussels cooked in a white beer like Hoegaarden!

Man, your recipe looks amazing. Pork loin might be my favorite cut of meet.
I shouldn't have watched this in the morning, it's got my starved for meat RIGHT NOW!
joffrethegiant 2 years ago
The recipe is really easy to make and it does taste great, especially when the meat is grilled over charcoal.

Oh, check out my blog for the actual recipe if you want.

Thanks! There wasn't a contest per say but I'd like to think that I would have won the "best beer soaked food" category!
