obviously Olphus ppl that have never used final cut before like me would look this up if you have a bs professor that doesn't explain crap yes this is helpful. so thank you MacVideoHelpline for posting this it helped.
I have a problem; when I put a clip at, say, 50%, it only shows the first half of the clip at half speed, and doesn't change the duration at all. Is there any way to fix this?
Hey every1, just foud a great website with huge file collection (PC And MAC) Just google For Aries-Films and u will find it. You can also watch youtube video in my channel and see how many great programs they got
But what if you wanted to ramp the speed up, beginning at normal speed and going faster and faster? FCP speed cannot be keyframed, as I've understood.
Gud one.. A small Suggestion Plz keep ur video tuts to less than 60secs or 90secs.. it wud help us aLL a lot and dat way our frens too can say dats quick tip.... (note:- imagine my god damn ISP who streamsvideos slowly if the duration is tooo long.. I kno its our connection but a small tiny idea :-)
I agree. your vids are VERY helpful so I don't mean to offend. Ironic that these are videos on editing and you can easily EDIT out about 50% of the video and get these tips down to short, one to two minute vids :)
ehh, you can also do this in Sony Vegas(without rendering) put the clip on the timeline grab the edge in the right place and shorten the clip to speed up in time or lenthen the clip to slow it down. I have both FCP & Vegas. Vegas doesn't need to render anything and it's fast.
well....i think final cut pro mite be a bit more powerfull in a sence but i think its just like sony vegas was intended 4 windows and final cut was intended 4 mac...
well its a mac powerbook with 1.67 GHz powerpc g4 and 512 mb ddr2 sdram
read that off the 'about this mac' part of my computer hehehehe.
you think it has to do with the ram? i wonder if it just stutters in playback in the canvas but if i export the file if it will still stutter.. i'll test that out.. but if that doesnt work i will have to use the reverse function in imovie instead and the export it back to FCE, cuz it works in imovie just fine for some reason...
No that's enough RAM and power.. shouldn't be because of that. There are a few reasons it could happen. I've found I get dropped frames sometimes and remixing the audio or freeing up more HD space has helped. Not sure what's causing your problem but generally when you export it should be gone yeah..
ok what about when i want to slow down or speed up just a part of the video.. happens in some movies.. from regular speed starts speeding up or from fast going to slow but not jumpy , smooth transition.
Usually they use special slow mo plugins but you can fake it a little by chopping your footage up into pieces with the razor tool and slowing down each part incrementally. At least that's how I try to do it.
I know a friend of mine who works in tv uses something called "Twixster" or something.. they used it in that madonna video clip.. You can get it for FCP but it costs more then I make in a month.
You can do this in iMovie but not with this amount of accuracy. To slow/speed or reverse clips in iMovie simply go to your "video effects" tab and you will see the fast/slow effect. Click on it and drag the slider the appropriate way and apply.
you should use camtwist to show your desktop, when the camera follows your mouse and you move it around to much it is kind of nausaiting. :( good content though
Thanks a lot man!

I really like the info that you give. It is easy to understand, but if you could try to move the screen alot less, it would sure be nice.
Thanks! for the help!

Or you could hang the clock on a wall with a hole in it, large enough for someone to wind the clock really fast from behind?
This is another free tip from Firebrandnire :)
Just jesting

that's great but this is a video for people with FCP. Would be a bit dumb for a FCP tutorial if it just said "get Sony Vegas" wouldn't it?
00Mandingo00 2 years ago
I only said this to let others (Herlyskate) know that it can be done on other programs such as Vegas. You don't "need a mac" to do this.

this is kind of a stupid cuestion y think but what does "render" means? :P
SexyPicho 3 years ago 4
It's just basically a computer process where the computer prepares the image for viewing after you make changes.
