  • I'm not into action figures of any size or era, but this is VERY COOL! The dedication really shows.

Pat yourself on the back, man, this is excellent work!

  • Nice!!!!

  • Outstanding.

  • As a ten year old boy in 1975, I woulda bludgeoned my mother to death with a claw hammer to have played with this!!!

  • Wow, great job! I approve. :)

  • Awe, beam me up Scotty... Never before in my life have wanted to be shorter but right now "mego scaled" really appeals to me.

  • Great detail. Where are the Turbo-lift doors?

  • @stads24 In this first video they are obscured by shadow. But if you check-out my other two later videos of the Bridge, the Turbo-Lift doors are clearly visible.

  • kewl

  • Fuck me! That's beautiful! You even have the sound effects! Nice work. :-D

  • simply bad ass

  • Wow, I simply can't thank you enough. I just need moving images of as much of the bridge as you can. No figures needed. The 8 year olds will be the cast and the video you post will go behind them to make them look like they are really there. I could use stills but it looks bad.A close up of the chair,Uhura's area, Sulu's command area, and the video transmission screen. Anywhere where one of the original cast would have been. I just need to make it look like a working ship. Thank you so very much

  • Awesome job!

  • nice job

  • that is cool, but, why? Did that cost alot to build(electronics etc.)? Was the family hip to this? If you're gonna this, then build a full sized shuttle from S.T. 5 or a Colonial Viper, an X-wing has been done, and its too big. St5 means Star Trek 5 . How about a shuttle from TNG. If you gonna do it, do it all the way. Nothing from IX. It sucked ass. There will ever only be one Kirk, Spock etc. It was so bad I had to go twice, because I totally forgot what it was about. Why ? No substance.

  • It was originally designed to be a Christmas display for my children. It can be easily disassembled into sections for storage. I am a big fan of Star Trek the original series...not so much TNG or the other spinoffs.

The large amount of styrene plastics and electronics did get a bit expensive, but it was really the many hours spent building it that was the most difficult thing.

Yes, the family is very "hip" to it. :-)

  • @trekbridge excellent work my friend,i`m only star trek fan the original series my to. live long and prosper

  • @78starbuck your an Idiot. this is a work of art.

    Don't like, don't watch it.

and you will really hate my trek collection on youtube

  • @78starbuck

I agree with you...Star Trek IX (Insurrection) DID "suck ass". Star Trek XI, however, was really very good.

  • Love the electronics in this model.

  • EXCELSIOR!!!

  • Awesome.

  • This is excellent but you need more light in tihs video. It is hard to see the details but the attention to detail is impressive.

  • Please check-out my other two videos. They are fully lit and include the Mego bridge crew figures.

  • Magnificent!

  • Absolutely Amazing ...would like to see it displayed with the figures.

  • Check-out my other two video of the bridge, they include the figures.

  • this is brilliant if you sell it on ebay [which i would'nt] it would be worth about 500 bucks.

  • The amount of hours (hundreds) that went into this project and the cost of materials, don't make it worthwhile to sell.

  • you sound like christian bale

  • Or maybe...he sounds like me. :-)

  • sweet makes me wish i was 1/8 scale myself.

  • was this a set you bought

  • No, I scratch built this set from styrene plastic.

  • Excellent work

    Kudos on your hard work

  • u should of done an "blue peter style" how to make lol

  • HOLY CRAP!! That is incredible! Nice freaking work!

  • Now THAT'S impressive! I was hoping to make a 1/18 scale TOS bridge for the 3 3/4" figures one of these days.

  • WOW. AMAZING. I need one of these! Did you happen to make a DVD of how you made this...?

  • HOLY COW~

  • NOW THAT IS SO KOOL!!! can i have it? lol

  • Love to make one for you dude...but the bridge's construction is such a monumental task, I'm afraid it will have to remain a one-of-a-kind.

  • Very well done!

I'm working on an illuminated "Lost in Space" Jupiter 2 command deck in the same scale with sound! I just hope my project turns out as well as yours!

  • I am so jealous that you own such a thing...When I saw your 1/8th Enterprise bridge I immediately dropped to my knees forsaking all others before you. :O)

  • Great work!

  • Dude? are you Jeffrey Combs? The guy who plays Weyoun, Brunt, Shran and other parts in trek? your voice sounds just like him. hahaha

  • Nope, I'm just a regular unknown. :-)

  • Awesome detail work on that bridge. You should bring it down to the FX Collectible/Toy Show in Orlando in April, man would that piece get looks!! Plus then I could see the display up close and personal, (smirk). Makes the old Mego Bridge Playset look like a Barbie Case! ~Gods Blessings~.

  • I was in Orlando a couple of years ago...wish I had the time to visit again. Sounds like a great FX show!!

  • That's freaking sweet.

  • Nice work - have you thought about contacting the people in charge of 'Twisted Toyfair Theatre'?

  • Sounds like a fun idea...I wonder if they would be interested in it?

  • very good work.

  • Very good model, Nicely done, will you do the Enterprise-D Bridge soon?

  • Unfortunately, I just don't have the time or the available space (this Bridge is about four feet in diameter) for another Bridge project.

  • Very impressive!

  • Not only great detail but excellent sound effects too. The high pitched 'chirp' thing is a bit different but the others are darn near spot on. Excellent model and great build work. Now, WHERE can I buy it?

  • "Impressive. Most impressive."

  • Good Location for a Movie!!!

  • that is amazingly impressive!

  • The lighting is beautiful. Great work!

  • Good work Jim, but wheres the action figures? Damn it Jim, I'm a doctor, not a toy maker!

  • Wow! I've had plans to do the same with the Ertl Bridge Model for some time- just waiting for time and lighting equipment small enough. Bought two complete kits make it complete. Also to build modular to allow display in sections- with independent light power sources. Yours is a bit larger scale and I'm sure it's easier to find lighting in that scale as compared to what I'll be tackling but I'd love to find out more on how you managed the light animations and other details!

  • Congratulations... your project sounds like a very ambitious one!!

I'd be happy to help you any way I can!!

  • Straight Trek Nerd! Much Respect! Pure Win!

  • That is so cool. Are the flashing lights fibre optics?

  • No, the control panel lights are not fiber optics, they are all actual (tiny) light bulbs. :-)

  • Wow! It looks bloody awesome mate!!! The detail is fantastic.

  • Exellent work from a true TOS fan.Love the detail..But if you can, dont forget to put in that unexplained twirly disk thing on the helm console{was that ever explained?}.keep up the exellent work ^.^

  • I certainly will, I'll construct that helm disk out of styrene plastic too. Thanks!!

  • Beautiful work on the lighting effects. Even though its not quite complete, your work is terrific!

  • Thank you very much!!! It's been a really challenging project!!!

  • Awesome!

  • great- well done mate. very impressive. the original series is still the best.

    cheers

    atvmidlands uk

  • Wow you deserve an award or something. damn fine lighting. My only recomendation is to put more flasher circuits in for the screens. Break up the pattern

  • Dude, this is amazing! It shows not only fantastic modelling skills but the heart of a true Trekkie!

  • Thanks man...I'm very glad that you like it!!!

  • Very cool. Im not a scratch builder like you but Ive been building airplanes forever. So far Im a super detail fan but as of late Ive been wanting to get into model ships. Within a week Ill have a 1:350 Titanic to detail and figure out how to light. Is there a cheap way to light a 30 inch model? I want light to spill from every port hole, but I dont want light spilling from seams. Would doll house lighting be effective or should I look into fiber optics?

  • LED lighting is probably your best bet. Fiber optics are okay for small jobs, but not large jobs...the cables will take up too much space inside your model ship, and you will need a hole in the hull the size of a bowling ball for them to run out to a light source.

  • I'm also building a 1:350 scale ship model and I just bought some fiber optics from a guy on ebay me80. They are great and work perfect with his little illuminaters to light the fibers optics. All you do is mount everything inside and put a little hole for a switch. It's very easy and they look great. I had the same trouble before with LED light coming out all the seams. With FO you don't have that problem they are much better in my opinion. cheers mate

  • True, fiber optics do have their advantages. I'm glad they worked well for your ship model!

  • Totally Awesome!!

  • Isn't that the original AMT ERTL release bridge?

  • The AMT Bridge Model Kit was used as a reference, but this is a totally scratch built Enterprise Bridge, 4ft in diameter!

  • Now if you can ever get a date.

  • I'm happily married with a new baby on the way. The Bridge took a lot of time to build, but I still have plenty of time for other things...thanks.

  • Wow!I`m impressed! It`s far better than mine!and I taughed I`ve made a good one!...I`ve made corridors and engeneering and transporter

    room upcoming on You Tube!

  • Dude, this is INCREDIBLE! Man, you really have a talent for this! I'm sure you're sick of hearing this, but, man, that is some niiiiice work! I'm curious about one thing, though: in no way is this is a criticism, but why did you choose to do it to Mego scale, as opposed to Art Asylum/Diamond select? Are you trying to purge the memory of that laminated cardboard bridge that they made in the 70s? Actually, I can't say I blame you and, of course, DS/AA is now releasing Mego-scale stuff.

  • Hey Dude, I chose the Mego-scale, because I am a big Mego fan, the figures are super posable, and I remember having a great time playing with the them as a kid. I always wanted to see a fully illuminated Enterprise bridge in the Mego figure's scale, but no one had built one...so I decided to do it myself.

  • Understood. My next question is, "how the hell did you do this?" Are there Mego-scale bridge plans out there? I mean, I can't even conceive of how you'd just do this from scratch; where did you get the plans? Everything seems to be in scale and perspective and it must be HUGE if it's Mego scale AND complete! Again, nicely, nicely done.

  • Are you gonna do a refit bridge, too?

  • Yes it is HUGE, about 4ft in diameter. No official Mego-scale plans, just photos available on the internet and snapshots from the TOS series on DVD. It is designed in sections for easy assembly/disassembly. I plan on making an annual event out of setting it up for the kids around the holidays.

P.S. Please vote for my Bridge in the Star Trek model contest, you will find a link in my written info to the right. Please tell all your friends to vote too!! THANKS!!! Sincerely, John

  • LONG LIVE MEGO!!!!!!!

  • Way to go Brad! I love it! Very nice! Good luck I hope you win!

  • Excellent!

  • neato

  • Very well done! A phenomenal job!

  • Fascinating. I have the old bridge model set that came out in 1992. I painted it pretty well, but mine will never look as cool as yours with all of the cool lights and other details it has.

  • Nice model, gone a be awesome when finish I like the lighting and the sound effects good work.I see that you saw my bridge model it,s was fitting also the mego figures, can,t wait to see the result.

  • REALLY nice. I would love one of those...bravo!

  • I have dreamt about a Mego bridge like this since I was a kid! I never thought I would see the day someone actually built one! BRAVO!!!

  • Really FANTSTIC model. It really comes to life with all the illuminations. Looking forward to seeing more when the model is finished.

  • When does this get mass marketed? How much time and cost have you 1invested? With all the YouTube compression, this set must look awesome first-hand. Will you be doing some greenscreen work with this?

  • Oh, if only I could mass market it? I've been working on it for about ten months now and I'd say I've invested about $450 worth of materials in it so far. The biggest expense has been the styrene plastic and the electronics. After the Bridge is completed, I do plan on making some mini-movies with the Mego Star Trek figures. I have about another month's worth of work yet. Currently I am working on the main-viewing-screen. But, I'll probably be "upgrading" things for years to come.

  • Now if you could just build a full scale hull around it!

  • Your work is amazing!

    Congratulations.

Please take a look at my Virtual Reality models of the ship.

  • Hey, I checked-out your virtual models of the Enterprise. Great Work...Very Accurate!

  • Sure has come a long way from putting the patterns on the floor just to figure out if it would work. When this is completed, I'll bet I'll be the hit of every show you put it in. "LIVE LONG AND PROSPER". ;)

  • John!! This is so excellent! Just keeps getting better and better! So makes me wish that I had put lights in mine. YOU ROCK!

    -Matt

  • Extraordinary. Makes me wan't to see you do a life sized version.I bet you won't be able to tell it from the original. Keep going. =Stefan=

  • That is unbelievable...absolutely incredible!! Makes me want to go and dig up all of my Mego Star Trek figures from storage....

  • WOW! That really looks great! Thanks for posting this.
