come on, invading iraq wasn't the best idea ever made. i remember discussion iraq in social studies class when i was about fifteen, not long before 9\11. the teacher explained how volatile iraq could be due to the differences between the sunnis and the shiites. we also talked about a possible civil war to free kurdistan, but that didn't happen. and how an invasion would be extremely difficult. there was a reason why the world didn't agree, it would cost to many lives.

It's true that i am far from a military expert. except from the obligatory year i spent in the military, i've hadn't had much experience (and i was never in actual combat). but you don't need to have great military knowledge to want to reduce the amount of dead civilians and troops from what i like to call to call the good guys. no war would have kept both lower than now. and leaving would give the extremists to much control, hence bogged down at the moment. i'm against the death of innocents.

it's not that bad in the sense that it's basic moral system does contain values with some merit, example that believers are supposed to donate 10 percent of their income to charity and things like that. and the people are generally as good as other human beings. but it is hard to take the religion seriously when you look at the histpric facts about its inventor. it seems to me that it was invented as a part of a political conflict or something.
but it is still a religion people belive in, and most people are good. hence the statement that the religion wasn't that bad (which actually should have been: the believers aren't all that bad). and i have great confidence that people eventually come to their senses. even christianity has had its dark times and abused to some degree, but that is a long time ago. and christianity has a much better foundation and moral belief system.

The US is no ones bitch, and if they didn't agree they wouldn't have signed (as they have declined in several other instances). come on, invading iraq wasn't the best idea ever made. i remember discussion iraq in social studies class when i was about fifteen, not long before 9\11. the teacher explained how volatile iraq could be due to the differences between the sunnis and the shiites. we also talked about a possible civil war to free kurdistan, but that didn't happen. and how an invasion would be extremely difficult. there was a reason why the world didn't agree, it would cost to many lives.

i doubt your social studies teacher was an army general, an intelligence operative, or high level official with insider knowledge. the differences between mohamdan has existed since their inception and these groups hve been killing each other for 1400 years, they live in perpetual civil war. It's true that i am far from a military expert. except from the obligatory year i spent in the military, i've hadn't had much experience (and i was never in actual combat). but you don't need to have great military knowledge to want to reduce the amount of dead civilians and troops from what i like to call to call the good guys. no war would have kept both lower than now. and leaving would give the extremists to much control, hence bogged down at the moment. i'm against the death of innocents.

well I dont know who you consider the "good guys" but the fact is that losses are the lowest for any war ever fought. i'm not against the use of arms to liberate a people. the problem with iraq is that the tyrant would perhaps be followed by a theocracy whom might be actually worse than the previous government. perhaps it would have been a more appropriate way to liberate iraq to encourage its people to rebel instead and help like the french did when america rebeled against the british.

although there is no such thing as a good tyrant, there is a difference on how bad they can be. but i don't want to defend tyrants so i'll not go into that. hopefully the iraqi people will come to their senses, but i still believe they would reach that target quicker if they had taken control themselves. instead they were thrown into it and perhaps they just weren't ready yet.

if i remember the stories right (some years ago since i read about it) it seemed as their prophet was a megalomaniac, pedophile highway robber, but the religion itself isn't that bad. it's the extremist followers thats the problem. and when i said they weren't ready i meant that the current religious enviroment doesn't really open for freedom. of course freeing slaves is a good thing, but freeing slaves so that they can be enslaved by someone else (fanatics) isn't the optimal solution.

it's not that bad in the sense that it's basic moral system does contain values with some merit, example that believers are supposed to donate 10 percent of their income to charity and things like that. and the people are generally as good as other human beings. but it is hard to take the religion seriously when you look at the histpric facts about its inventor. it seems to me that it was invented as a part of a political conflict or something.

i agree in the fact that islam might be based on to some degree violence. but as is corrected above, its believers aren't necessarily evil. and there is history for people understanding what is best for them eventually. but if someone else forces a change it can be more difficult. and in iraqs case it is difficult to see how changed could be forced as long as there are fanatics around. only the people itself can truly make that change.

they were aquitted. people aren't guilty untill proven innocent. in danger of repeating myself i must add again that ever since they were delivered to the US by pakistani bountyhunter, the US has had a responsibility. we differ on what that responsibility is. you don't seem to care if they get tortured or killed and i do. keeping in mind that i trust the court made a fair and balanced decision and that the military would act if they thought them to be a threat.
