  • I Kick it with the oldies on my commute to work I love Billy Stewart!

  • Orale!! love this rolita!

  • I didn't know he died in a car crash. I was told he was stabbed multiple times. Billy is one of the true greatest artists of all time. God bless his soul.

  • Cadillac records stunk. Left out too much of what really happened. The language used was atrocious. What happened to Billy Stewart? He had been on Chess/Argo since 1956 with a regional hit called Billy,s Blues part 1 & 2.

  • Should be in the Rock and Roll HAll of Fame!!!!!!

  • @Nickie0016 DEFINITELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Chess records had mo' Chicago recording artist than the stars in the sky. The movie would have to be and epic series.

  • you are right . The movie Cadillac records didn't menition Billy Stewart. I wonder why?

  • Yes, I am disappointed as well, that the film did not mention the band members as well that perished alongside Billy Stewart, my uncle Norman Rich, William Cathey and Ricco Hightower. Very sad!

  • YEA ..I CANT BELIEVE THE MOVIE CADILLAC RECORDS DIDNT MENTION BILLY STEWART..WTF....I CANT BELIEVE IT..SORRY PRODUCERS..THEY SUCK

  • im never qoinq 2qet tired of listeninq 2this sonq yo

  • Remember being a teenager hearing this song for the first time at a Friday night house party. I recall the melody & lyrics were so catchy. Billy Stewart was a REAL Unique Talent. There hasn't been anyone that even dared to replicate his style.

  • I was in the club in Cola, sc. where he was to perform that night when they announced the accident. 67??

  • i like this song

  • He died in a car crash very near where I live in N.C. He was traveling with several members of his band near Smithfield, N.C when his car went off the road and landed in the Neuse River. Stewart and 3 of his band members all died that evening.

  • I first heard this song when FATBOY SLIM used as an intro to his live sets. I instantly loved it. Glad to of finally of found it.

  • my uncle david loved this jam but sadly he past away. so when ever i here this song i think of him. REST HIS SOUL

  • I saw this man many times at the Regal theater in Chi-town when I was a teenager. Believe me, this was one of the best musicians of that time period, he had his own band, had a guy that danced sometimes while they played and was sharp as hell. He was one of those attractive 'big' guys. Awesome. I still miss him because we didn't get all we wanted from this great man! : /

  • He still has relatives in the music business in the DC area, according to the Library there. Thanks for posting this

    .

  • I wish songs today would include the morbidly obese. We are the majority so I would like better representation or revolution, except that we the fat people are too lazy to revolt... oh.

  • he died in a car crash in selma, nc on I-95. The car left the road and went down a revene between two bridges. My friends dad towed the car in and it drew a crowd for a few days. Very sad time.

  • So what is it? Did he pass away from a car crash or a airplane crash? @arville49 and @shirlbhirl

  • @123imtheman It was a automobile accident...where did you get the impression he died in a plane crash?

  • @Nocaro because this sweet had to crash outa' the sky

  • @Nocaro i live about 7 miles from the site where billy stewart passed..they were in the southbound lanes of I-95, and somehow the car or tour bus, whatever they were in, ran off the interstate on the median side, and went inbetween the north and southbound bridges spanning the neuse river..if memory serves me correctly, the vehicle hit the river bank, and partially submerged into the river..if memory serves me correctly ; (

  • @Nocaro I thought I heard it was a airplane crash as well.

  • Nocaro, you are right , I also noticed that Billy was not in the

movie Caddilac Records. That's too bad. My favorite Billy Stewart record

    is Secret Love.

  • Big loveable FAT BOY Billy Stewart from back in the day before RAP/Hip hop laid waste to awesome and always reliable black singers in popular music. There, i said it.

  • THANKS, -I LOVE YOU - RIP FAT BOY!!!

  • PLEASE! Correct me if I'm wrong. It doesn't really matter, but I thought he died in a PLANE crash? That was what was told back then?

  • @shirlbhirl Billy died in a horrible and preventable automobile accident about 30 miles from where I'm sitting right this moment. At the time (late 60's), he was touring the Carolinas where his music had become so popular that he was drawing thousands at small venues in one-night stands. I was extremely disappointed when the film "Cadillac Records" (about the Chess Record Company) was made and Billy's contributions to that company were totally left out...Lanny (Nocaro on YouTube)

  • @Nocaro I truly Thank You for that! No, he never got the recognition he truly deserved, but we know in OUR

hearts. Is there a fan club or what can we do to perserve his legacy? It angers me sometime, when they totally ignore {by design} true God-given talent while promoting the least and/or NO TALENT people!!!!!

  • @shirlbhirl There is no Billy Stewart Fan Club of which I'm aware. Of course, he's fondly remembered in these parts because his music remains so popular at the various 'beach music" venues. He was the featured performer at my high school prom in the spring of '67 so I'll always remember him...Nocaro

  • @Nocaro There actually is a Billy Stewart Fan Club on You™Tube®

  • @Nocaro YEA I SAID THE SAMETHING... FIRST TIME I WATCHED IT I WAS WAITING TO SEE IF THEY WERE GONA MENTION BILLY BUT THEY NEVER DID

  • @PURPLEPIMP78 A huge oversight in my eyes. I can understand leaving out people like Fontella Bass, The Radiants, and a few others, but I certainly would have also at least mentioned The Dells (which the film did not). It seems as if they wanted to focus primarily on the early Chess stars and anyone who arrived after 1962 or so wasn't important.

  • @Nocaro - I was disappointed too, liked the movie, but thought he should have been mentioned at least, I have a LP from his Chess Days, it is well worn, and I also am from NC, his music is ALWAYS played when it's "Summertime" in the Carolinas...

  • I also heard he died in a plane crash@shirlbhirl

  • What a great song. Now this is music. I love every song he ever made.

  • Sad to know that his life was cut short. Good people seem leave this earth early.

  • I LOVE IT!!! OLDIES RULE 4EVER!!!!!!

  • like this song alot...

  • I wish it was a video. I just found the CD with 29 songs by Billy and I'm a real fan and I wish that I was there back in the 60's

  • @arville49 Have you no life! When was the last time your turned on the radio to something popular?! Give me a decade or century! A lifetime, perhaps???

  • @MrTbudwiser wat are u talking about?

  • @arville49 WOW! You have all those songs. I am looking the the Buddy Deane Show in Baltimore, Maryland back in the day; He sang Fat Boy in person-he was a truly humble, easy to talk to person. I won the dance contest and received a 45 record of Fat Boy! Soon after that, he died in a plane crash! My treasured record disappeared!!!! God Bless You for having him with us for this long!
