I think Pete made the right call on holding this one off the album. It doesn't really develop like his released songs do. I haven't heard the version on the Face Dances reissue CD but unless he did more with this, it's just about at Scoop level in this point.
I have to say that I personally love it (spaacially lyrics) and find the dmeo better than the finished product on FD reissue... of course subjective as with everything with music.. :-)
I love the way the power of his playing shines through, regardless of how amped up it is, or is not. The power is in his hands and heart much more than it is in amplifiers and production.
On the original release of FACE DANCES, Townshend did not sing lead on any song. Entwistle sang lead on his "The Quiet One" and Daltrey sang lead on all the remaining tracks.
lets see, add some Entwistle bass melodies, some off the wall drummin from Keith and some Roger and this could sound a whole lot different,

This song is on the remastered CD, but it should have made it on the original album.

"If you depend on me for making rock 'n roll, then you better watch out kids, because I'm growing old..."
Wow! Prophetic words indeed. If I'd a heard that at the time, I might have started on guitar a year or two earlier.

Why didn't this make the album???? In my view, this song is better than all but 2 or 3 that DID make it on! Anyone with me on this??

Oh yeah!
Power chords are what you need.
This definitely is one awesome song and should have made the album. I agree 100%.

One of those cocain colds?

Pete sang a lot on the Face Dances album. Did Daltrey have problems with his voice or the band?

Tons of PT backing vocals though, I'm sure that's what Dock was referring to...

But Pete always sang a lot of backing vocals...
