IMHO what was really ahead of its time was the machine Alan Turing built at Blechley park to help crack the enigma codes. Not quite a modern digital computer but it had a lot of the technology that made the first one possible.

I wasn't belittling the enigma. It was interesting. But it seems to me that the brits were the more technologically advanced. The enigma was a clever use of 19th century technology. Essentially a bunch of wheels and rotors. The Brits invented a machine based on Turing's mathematical breakthrough called a turing machine which laid the groundwork for the modern digital computer. Enigma was a dead end Turing went on to build the modern computer that revolutionized the world.

actually it was pretty much ALL of Poland. Half of our eastern territories was taken by USSR, while the other half have become Polish People's Republic, a communist puppet country on the Stalin's strings. We were the only occupied country, that never had signed with the Nazis treaty of any kind, our soldiers were dying all over the world fighting Nazis till end of WW2, best pilots in RAAF, just to be stabbed in the back and sold out in Jalta.
