Don't worry, it gets better. As you get further into it, there are a lot of things worth watching. As soon as you finish, you'll be glad you stuck it through until the end.

I believe if Sunrise didn't screw over the writers of Destiny the story would have been fleshed out more instead of leaving things unexplained and there wouldn't be as much brooding and recaps. The writer for the Astray manga did a brilliant job of filling in the blanks in the first series.

@INTERPK Well, Tomino stopped the insane gynocide sometime after Victory, if you notice, then Turn A has almost no female deaths, or deaths at all, with characters screen time reinforcing their potential of survival as opposed to his normal opposite where longer presence = higher death chance.

I own a copy of it (with subtitles...not good subtitles but has them non the less lol.) and it's one of my top 3 Gundam series. It gets really good at the end when they explain the connection between the UC (Main Gundam Timeline.) FC (G Gundam), AC (Gundam Wing), AW (Gundam X...also a fav.), and CC (Turn A)

They're speaking nonsense, it's great. All the character threads, personalities and hidden agendas collide, as the true villains are finally revealed, one character does a surprising but well-written defection, a certain useless character's true face is revealed, and an epic battle between two entirely different men occurs in the battle to end all Gundam battles, followed by a superb epilogue full of laughs, sadness and Broadway songs. Maybe some didn't like it because there weren't beamspamming

Though there are some people that hate it outright just because it is so different from all the other gundam shows. But I think that those differences probably is what made it good. It wasn't just another copy of UC like so many other alternate universe gundams.

Fair enough, i play Dynasty Warriors Gundam 1 & 2 i have both jap and english versions and it took me about a year til i found out Loran was a boy lol. i havent seen it but i dont like the look of his Gundam, i prefer Wing's or Seeds personally.

Turn A may have looked awkward, but it's story was pretty damn good, and when you get right down to it, isn't that what matters? More substance, less style?

And this opening is pretty catchy as well, makes me want to dance.

Actually, I think the animation is some of the best ever, Gundam wise. There's no stock footage, and the show is pretty classy, IMO. Got an old-school, Future Boy Conan-ish feel.

I've seen a couple of episodes, the animation is Gundam top notch, no question about that.

It's just the machinery that's a bit odd, especially Turn A and that funky 'stache.

But other then that, very few flaws in Turn A, so I don't know why some fans dislike it as much as Gundam X, which suffered far worse.

Loran and Laura are the same person, and Loran's a guy. There were some interesting translations that had Loran as a girl who looked mostly boyish who then had to pretend to be Laura....

But they're the same person.

Actually that's because Loran had to do a bit of crossdressing. It was very effective on one of the main antagonists of the serires who kept calling him Laura even after finding out the truth.

This opening makes me want to give this series a chance. I've always been a hardcore U.C. fan, and I'd started losing faith in Tomino, but maybe this show deserves it. This opening is awesome, if nothing else!

You really should. It's one of the very few series where Tomino's humour works (go special sunglasses!), his characters really jump off the screen, and the plotting is excellent. Plus, there's an actual ending epilogue, not just (Zeta Spoilers, but you've seen it)

Sorry about this coming late, but overall Tomino only failed in V Gundam and ZZ Gundam in terms of his Gundam Works. And Turn A is the strongest Gundam, period, believe it or not.

I must disagree. Turn A is the best Gundam, but I thought that Zeta was overwrought, #F91 was too compressed and CCA was bleh. Not a massive fan of ZZ (not only did I not find it funny, I though Judau's and the Shangri-La kids' 'silly' strategies were actually quite clever (orange assault, Zeta Zaku). Second half was slightly less befuddling.) but I though V was really good. Maybe I'm won over by flashy designs and fights (though I didn't like SEED) but I thought it adequately summed(continued)
