I just purchased the re issue Flanger & Final Phase. I also wrangled an old one from a friend. The original sounds are there, just not with the same settings. Instead of putting the knobs on both is the same position.I moved the knobs on both until I achieved the same sounds. They are both very close. The new one was quieter. I don't use the extreme sounds, so I can't comment. But I'm very happy with the Re Issue.
bravo... i have the vintage ADA flanger and it's clear from your demos that it is better than the re-issue... but i would like to buy the re-issue because it does offer some other interesting things, and to use as a back-up of course... anyway, well done...
The HARMONICS switch seems to be broken on the old flanger. Also the tolerance in the pots is 20% which means the settings for the knobs could be as much as 20%. The demo should take this into account and turn the knobs a little until the tones match, not the knob positions. I have done the same comparison and find that either flanger can exactly duplicate the other. The knob positions are a little different between the 2 flangers, but the tone is dead-on.
Watching all 3 vids, i persoanlly prefer the older ADA. It seems to have better overall tones than the new ADA. It's a shame becase I just ordered a new one & now after watching this i'm in 2 frames of mind cancelling the order.
Personally, I think the new one sort of caters to the new generation of music, as well as trying to live up to it's "Jet sound" namesake. It's a great pedal. I personally like the original because I play some pretty weird stuff normally and some of the more radical effects really sound cool. That heli sound is wicked, just not what I was lookin' for.

I prefer the old one, by far ! But, I should go to a store and try them in person ! These computer speakers aren't really credible.

Interesting, could you post the comparison? I'm gonna feel quite sheepish if this is the case lol.

I hear you, I suppose I was hanging onto the idea of wanting an exact sounding replica from the 70's.
