who cares if the technique is not 100% muay thai or looks alittle like a karate kick... it got the job done beautifully.also no one martial art is better than another, it all depends on wat suits the person.
perfect muay thai kick... sure pal i suggest you watch Buakaw por pramuk kick than you have some what of an idea of what a perfect muay thai kick looks like
@amclartyfrancis2k9 Yeah, they are. Trust me, throwing a kick and using your foot to take the impact hurts like hell. Especially when training on a bag. Using th shin causes more damage, and causes less self-inflicted damage. A lot of people used to kick tree trunks repeatedly to harden their shins to make their kicks more effective.
just checked it out and yes, you can even tell the pysical conditioning is different, their pysiques are different.
Also recommends.
BTW did you know that there are more muay thai kick-boxers in Thailand than there are boxers in America? 3:1 to be precious. You ever wonder why North American Muay Thai Figthers will rarely face off aganist someone actually from Thailand? Cuz they're end up getting crippled and that scares the North Americans..
Well there's 2900 professional boxers in the entire USA...... IN THAILAND it's 500.000 (yes it's right) boxers including 65.000 professional boxers ;-)
@Wolfsbane909 I guess thats why so many north american UFC fighters go train in thailand, on account of how scared of being crippled they are. Jon Fitch has trained muay thai in thailand and the guy doesnt even really stand in his fights for christ sake. Muay thai is my favourite striking art form but your making thai fighters out to be gods or some shit. If thats the case why doesnt some cocky thai fighter just go clean out a division in the ufc with his outrageously textbook mauy thai?
@Wolfsbane909 Although I agree with you, this kick is fairly sloppy. I dont know why this guy is so happy about it. I dont want you to think im hatin on muay thai, but cmon man. Theres no 1 martial art that wrecks all others, in the end it always comes down to the ability of the martial artist, not the actual art form he has decided to employ. And whats not to like about MMA?
@CyrustheVirus1234 well reason u don't see guys from muay thai enter is because they would wreck their precious marketable fighters, dana white would be shocked; most muay thai fighters only last 3 years average because it's 2 punishing. oh no who's face will we plaster on the lunch boxes & t-shirts?!
@Wolfsbane909 No. Its because guys who train both standup and ground fighting would decide, hey this guy is pretty good standing, I guess ill put him on his back and snap his arm like a twig.
terrible video, waste of two minutes. doesnt even land kick with shin, fat cunt didnt even have hands up, ive seen beginers with better technique than this. as cutting edge as the turd i laid this morning
High thai round kicks don't have to land with the shin. You can also use the foot in this instant. It's the torque that delivers the power. The actual problem with this guy's kick is his poor hip rotation and posture.
you can't expect much, nowadays everyone is trying to cash in on the MMA craze.
0:56 his already off balance when his throwing the kick like his expecting it to land, what if it doesn't can he sustain that power or will he just lose balance and fall?
you're right his core strength needs to be stronger for a traditional Muay Thai kick.
I can do the traditonal round house immediately followed by an heel toe kick.
He opens his guard completely when he throws the kick, that just sloppy
If he misses, the leg will flop down lazily and he will stumble for a few seconds from the momentum. Not the best kind of recovery but thats what will usually happen. I'm not saying its necessary to become a full time Thai boxer in order to be in MMA but I've seen better kicks and this isn't one of them.
Yeah this is a sloppy kick but it did the job. If I had a dime everytime some joe-blow-UFC-fanatic wanted to "spar" with me(sigh).
Even though I am only doing it for fitness but alotta guys wanna act all hardcore. Beating up people in "sparring", whats the point of that? Just another pissing contest if ya ask me.
If I beat'em they will want more!
I walk away they tease & taunt, they hunger for blood. This is not the "way"(do) of the arts. They become corrupted by their own power.
Depends, but for head kicks you have to remember that the kicker himself is also in danger of his opponent's counterattack. Therefore, many head kicks are done with the top of the foot to keep a long range. Shins are great to smash against the body because the damage needs to cover a great surface area, but for the head a snapping motion is enough to cause a knockout. Anything to make the brain slosh into the skull.
you only have to look at the guys huge gut and the fact he tried to block a perceived low kick with his arm to know this guy is not a trained fighter.
I understand that professional fighters must do anything to be able to ko your opponent but isnt destroying you nerves permanently on you shin is a bit exagerated?
no it pays off in a fight to not feel it when you crack your shin on someones dome. a guy at my gym went three rounds with a fractured shin bone and didnt even realize it.
... The striking area with Muay thai varies from your foot, all up to your upper shin. Since high kicks don't have that much power as low kicks, you can perfectly use your feet to deliver the kick (without risking any injuries). Another good example of this is the brazilian high kick (Feitosa uses this alot in K-1), where you use your foot as well..
So in the end, you can use your foot for middle and high kicks, it's still effective.
actualy, there are many fragile and small bones on the foot where as the shin is much more solid. Kicking with the foot can injure the small bones and ankles
you have to be blind to get hit with that kick. there is a long set-up and the guy is stood on one leg for the duration of the technique, I stopped using these kicks when I realized I could punch harder than the kick! btw just block it with an elbow and watch him start hopping! and nice pot belly on the opponent!
not a 'perfectly executed' muay thai high kick at all, by my reckoning. The kick struck with the foot rather than the chin, and the right arm should be swung back for balance during the kick, with the left serving to protect the face (though this last point varies somewhat). Still, effective nonetheless.
very good review of the technique, thanks

Poor execution and posture for a Thai kick. Look at the hips and he's leaning back way too much. The guy has poor flexibility.
