  • Good audio, nice talk.

  • I use aptosid currently on my computers and it's very good and for being Debian Sid based I've found it to be very stable with no breaks since I've installed it. I find this new distro based on aptosid interesting. It looks good and since there's an LXDE version I'm sure It's VERY fast. This distro and aptosid are both based on Debian and Debian is very fast :) It's one of the awesome facts about Debian ;) Nice review... Thanks Spatry :D

  • hey sparty hope you had a good xmas and new year noticed there is a few new distros on distrowatch

  • Thank you for the update! Excuse my ignorance on the subject.... but what exactly is a, "Fork" or to put it in another way what is meant by it on Linux? Thank you so very much in advance for your feedback!

  • @LudwigSpiegel Picture if you will that you are driving down the highway of life... all of a sudden the road FORKS into 2 directions... A FORK is when someone takes the code in a project and decides to take another route with it; continue adding features and such. An example is Gnome2 forked into 2 projects that I know of... MATE and Cinnamon.

  • @LudwigSpiegel

A fork is, if you take an existing program or operatiing system, change it to your liking and release it.

  • Thanks for showing us. The best Debian based distro in my opinion is, well, Debian;-) One tip though, if you install it on a laptop, you might need to have the wireless drivers for you kernel handy on a usb stick if you need connectivity during install. Personally I moved to Fedora for the most part when Gnome 3 started to hit the Sid/Wheezy repos hard. I wouldn't rule out Fedora if you're looking for something a bit more bleeding edge and involved than Ubuntu:-)

  • Spat (or anyone else for that matter), is there a reason why you are fond of lxde rather than xfce other than lxde being lighter weight? Reason I ask is that I am looking seriously at xfce (or xubuntu) as my top choice for my Ubuntu replacement alternative in or around 6 months from now.

  • @brobriobri Both are great DEs, but less user friendly than Gnome in certain areas. The mature Xfce is my personal preference. It's more of a complete environment while Lxde is openbox with extra components, which is starting to shape up nicely recently. Lubuntu is an excellent Lxde implementation. I'd recommend Xfce as a Gnome replacement unless resources are really limited. You can even use Nautilus instead of Thunar, have Dropbox, and pretty much tweak it to behave like Gnome 2.

  • @andamat Thanks. I've looked at both on Virtualbox, and have both shells installed on my ubuntu lucid through the synaptic as well. I've been leaning toward xfce I think. This Siduction os looks pretty nice, but I do think that I'll stick with either Lubuntu or Xubuntu in the end.

  • @brobriobri not that i can think of but i am sure there are comparisions out there man. hope it helps and good luck

  • @SgtCraigHart1 Thanks Craig.

  • @brobriobri happy to help :>

  • Hmmm - if I get the Raspberry Pi computer I might use this distro on it, unless you have a suggestion that would be better suited to it. Excellent review!

  • I've been looking for an os that comes with a siducer. lol!

  • @brobriobri You can tell the developer has a sense of humor! LOL!

  • uhmmm Interesting! Think I'm going to test this one on my old laptops!

  • @TheFastyXChannel Please let us know how it works out for you =)

  • @LinuxSpatry I will! Just give me a week or two!

  • You found a good volume level for the yelling this time!

  • @WraithBigPappa LOL... I did not have enough coffee this morning....

  • great video...Good Job !

  • @Warez244 Thanks!!!
