You know what they say right. If you have to ask you can't afford it :p Just kidding.
The cost for a pro to design the studio alone can cost you 100k. To build it probably another 3 or 400k. The console alone around 100k(excluding cables) the piano about 70k.
Total (including all amps, rack gear and construction and treatment), probably a couple million.
you want reverb in a studio, and stone can help a little, better than glass, glass kills reflections in most casses! the key is to have a mix of live and dead sound in the room. In the control room is were you want to keep reflections to minimum.
There are top end studio's that have a wood, stone, glass etc room. Why? because each has it's own sound.
Glass certainly doesn't kill reflections. All hard surfaces reflect the higher frequencies which give you reverb. What glass does do is let lower frequencies through.
hell, i made plenty of money recording on my reel to reel tape recorder , who needs to pay all that frigin money for studio time hell , we got pc now .
Crazy finding this video here. Some of the best tracks I ever did were at this place. Way back in the late 80's early 90's when it was nothing more than a cement block under Bobs house and an ongoing API restoration project. :-) Love this place.
Alright, here's a comment. I think this video is very rough, and we really did it just for fun. Yeah, I am the chic you see a couple times in the video and also I did the voice introduction <--- in my most professional voice of course, which is funny! THE WHOLE VIDEO IS ONLY about 2 MINS even though it says it's 5 MINS .. i dunno, that's all I got for now :/
whats the name of the song in the background its shity enuf quality but its fairly cool

I doubt the studio authorized this video, in it's current state. Surely, they'd veto that soundtrack. I smell sabotage.

what glass does*
There is a reason why it's called a 'live room'

I've read about this studio. Dave Grohl singlehandedly recorded all instruments on the first Foo Fighters album here.
