i did a job with ne alexa in RAW a few days ago. the arri alexa really look amazing in the skin tones and really had 14 stops of latitude. and the sensor does oversampling of 3,5k and you get 2880x1620 and its enough...... there is no beamer specification with more than 2k
AND i am waiting for the alexa studio :) the only digital camera with real anamorphic capability........ its great for professional cinematographers stand out from the crowd. there will be a own look.
Looks great! This is really going to make so many shots, especially 2nd Unit, more possible to shoot in difficult light situations. can't say I'm surprised, it looks like I expected, but It's pleasing and doesn't' have a flattened look like some HDR. I'm interested to see how this HDR interacts with skin tones. Hopefully you don't need to use it in a scene with skin because you have more control over the light, but I'm curious to see it. Nice logo animation BTW.
One question, i hope it is simple to answer. How practical is shooting HDRX except that it requres more space on storage? In other words is it just press the button in the camera to shoot how much stops you want or there is a lot of work once it gets in the editing system, because to me this seems revolutionary and there is no to much publicity and hiss about this? What is the catch? Why this doesn't get publicity it deserves?Maybe it isn't very practical?That's the only reason I can think of.
Now take that camera out of the steel & concrete, traffic congestion ridden inner city and go down to the South Pacific like Tahiti or something & shoot there.

the only camera with hdrx capabilities right now are the RED Epic and Scarlet X.
